very similar in structure to the virus responsible for the 1918 epidemic, no?

This year, the swine flu has cause 1 death so far, and that was a child who traveled to this country already infected.

the virus in 1918 was cited in the spring as being relativley mild.  when flu season came around in the autumn, millions died.
the target wasn't the very young or very old either.  18-35.

I'm not saying panic--I just wouldn't be so brazen about the situation.

watch and see how it shapes up.
wash yer fucking hands.  Keep your distance from germy-looking people.

Getting violently ill has a tendency to put a dent in one's financial stability for a little bit.

The CDC, FDA and the MSM have cried wolf far to many times to be taken seriously. Ever.

OK, time for Professor Libman to take some time off his busy schedule (creating viruses to kill all non-libertarians and whatnot) and teach some Organic Chemistry 101.  Viruses are identified according to the proteins they use to do what they do.  The Hemagglutinin type 1 is one of several known methods a virus can use to enter a cell in order to infect it to reproduce itself.  The Neuraminidase type 1 is one of several known methods the virus clones can use to exit the cell to go off in search of more cells to infect.  NHA10 does the very same thing to online forums, so the answer to your question is yes.

in before alex libman fixes it w/ a snarky comment about being an alcoholic coding geek with no life

That's it! We shall name it The Flu Formally Known As Swine and we'll identify it with an androgynous symbol.
