So about Chartarum
« on: September 29, 2011, 11:08:58 PM »

We're shooting a couple last minute bits this weekend, then I put together a final edit, start rendering effects, and slap 'em in.

Rerecording sessions for audio will take a matter of days, and then we're basically done. You won't necessarily be seeing the movie in the next few weeks or even months depending on how we figure out to sell it/get it out there, but it'll be in the fucking can and I won't have to look at it anymore.

Feedback from Porcfest was I guess fairly positive.

It'll be nice to be onto the next thing and be into the selling part of C.

Cool.  .

You're still shooting?  I'd be a snarling bag of wolverines by now.

Lemme know when I can buy a copy.

Dude you were in the flick. You'll never get to buy a copy. You can HAVE one, of course.

There is of course the possibility that at some point we'll ship you a crate full that you'll be able to do whatever you want with, if we go that way.

As for the shooting thing, it's a pickup thing. Gotta shoot the news reporter.

Also, there has been a lot of struggle with the end of the film. I'm just really unhappy with it, so I'm rebuilding it from scratch. Necessary and sucky.

The stuff we had for a resolution was talky and the actors were uncomfortable and there wasn't enough coverage. Not to mention everyone losing concentration because of traffic on the road and mosquitoes.

New ending will be better.

Ha, cool.

I knew the "Buy" word would be sticky.  For me, it's like a vote, sorta-kinda.  I don't buy "the arts" very often.  But in this case, I would.

However you see fit, JohnShaw!

You do realize, a crate of Chartarum in my hands would inevitably end up in some very unusual places.

Congratulations on everything you've done so far. If nothing else, I hope everyone had fun and/or learned something about the process. Just getting out there and doing it is part of the tuition of film making. XD

Is the trailer we saw at Porcfest available online anywhere?

Not until the movie is done.

Well if you need me for any of that, let me know. Glad to help. Although it might be disconcerting for Jared to suddenly be skinnier at the end of the movie. Maybe you could pad me out.

I wonder if the Pope said that to Michelangelo while he was painting the Cistine Chapel.

Let's see you try to write, storyboard, direct, compose music, edit, special effect, and repair less than great footage in the same time frame, sport.

Next time you watch a movie, sit through the credits.

Now imagine one person doing all of it minus the acting and half of the administrative.

How long does a big budget movie take to make?

Answer: one to three years.

I'm at two years as of September 9th and our budget has been seven thousand dollars. (An overage of about two thousand from inital spec)

This is why I never talk about the production of this film. You can work until your brain is about to explode and people who don't understand the entire process say "Herp" and "Derp" at you.
