Good advice- though the reply I got was "looks like there's a lot of hippie astroturfers out for "free talk live" today." heh... I politely pointed out that we're not hippies, and government is just screwed up, and that he should goto our forum.

Cool. There's a similar article coming out in the next issue of Linux Magazine, though it will focus on the software end of things. If it mentions anything FTL related, I'll let you all know.

BTW, as another tactic, those of you who submit articles to slashdot, put freetalklive.com as your homepage URL. Lots of people click on those links, and if nothing else it will boost SE ratings a bit.

lol thats the same thing my friend said. Hes a disillusioned republican complaining about Bush and I told him he should be a Libertarian and he freaked out. He was like no way you guys want to legalize drugs all you are are Neo-Hippies.

It's a Portland-based think tank.  http://www.cascadepolicy.org/.  My family lives in Oregon, but I'm going to college in Massachusetts.  Some interesting articles at their site- they tend to focus on the Northwest, and especially Oregon & Washington.

One time I remember people the Cascade Policy Institute being criticized with after an article written by Steve Buckstein, How NOT to fight Meth.  To that a writer from 'BlueOregon' (a progressive oregonian site) wrote A counter article, which included alot of criticizing of Cascade Policy.  Legalize Meth!

Yep. I escaped from SF, and Mass is very much more of the same

Seattle is not exactly the most Free-Market city, either. Plenty of pro-Freedom people socially, but also plenty of outright Socialists too.

hah, MIT, I wish.  I'm at WPI, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  (Though my general chem teacher claims that we have a better 1st-year chemistry program than any other university on the planet  )

Seattle seems like a nice city, from the few times I've been a tourist there.  Lots of rain, but I'm used to that from growing up in the Willamette valley.
