Not many people have seemed to notice it, according to the stories I've heard.
When my mother was a waitress (in the 90s, early 00s) she would sometimes get silver certificates as tips, and very occasionally she would get some silver coins as payment / tips. I know, you can't exchange a silver certificate for silver anymore, but it's still interesting to get. She got $1s, mostly, and once she got a $5.
I have a friend who was given a $1 Silver Eagle by his mom once. It was minted in the early 90s and it was heavily worn, which indicates that someone's been using it and they've been circulated among certain people, which would have been south Texas / whatever bit of Mexico is near there.
I don't have any interesting stories from me myself. Hell, I hoard nickels so that I'd have some kind of money when / if SHTF.
