Sex work and women and stupidity
« on: August 03, 2010, 03:33:46 PM »

Lawrence Fishburne is angry that his daughter, Montana Fishburne, made a porn movie.  Reporter asks "Is this not what all fathers fear their daughters will do to them?"  Both men, though presumably straight and having presumably seen at least a bit of porn in their time, are apparently not aware that every male and female in every porn movie is somebody's son or daughter.

Suggestion: If your daughter makes a porn movie, don't watch it.  Don't attend the strip club where she works.  Don't call the escort service she's employed with.  Don't call the sex line she works the phones for.  Nobody's making you.  It's her life, her job.  If that makes you uncomfortable, it's your problem.  Not something she "did to you."  Feel embarrassed or ashamed if your daughter becomes a corrupt cop; leave her alone if she dances around a freakin' pole.  She's making people happy for a living.  Get pissed if she makes her living hurting people.

Lastly....

Guys, you are not inherently superior to your wank material.  I know if feels good to think you are, but you're not.  The fact that she's the one who is naked and you're the one with your dick in your hand does not somehow make you better, more worthwhile, more intelligent, or more interesting.  Stop thinking it does, and you might be less likely to throw a judgmental fit if your daughter/mother/sister decides to go into the profession.

"Is this not what all fathers fear their daughters will do to them?"

This line indicates some previous serious flaws in the relationship this man had with his daughter prior to the movie. No father would want to know that his little girl is doing porn but to turn it around and make it an issue about himself really says something about him as both a man and more importantly as a father.

My guess his actual issue is he is pissed off he ain't the only one hitting it any more.

Can't say I wouldn't be unhappy about finding my daughter in a porn film...

...but she's pretty open about the fact that she was thinking about making a name for herself with this film.  You kind of have to admire the girl for trying something on her own, without simply asking daddy's agent and saying "get me a movie role." Sure, there were many other ways to have gone other than adult films, but maybe she figured this was the quickest route for her?

Meh...he draws his income from pretending that your local crime lab spends all its time putting nearly 100% of murderers behind bars, when in fact they are far less effective at convicting murderers, and spend much of their time supporting such "useful" endeavors as the war on what you may choose to put into your body.

Which of the two should be embarrassed by the other?

i'm not the one getting urinated on, gang-banged by 38 guys & jizzed on by them all.
fucked w/ a baseball bat & defecated on.

there's some pretty simple & fucked up people out there doin this shit.......i think i might be just a whisker above some of them.
i'm def. not ''wanking'' to this shit, and you have to be mighty close to the bottom of the barrel, to be doing some of this stuff.

The point was that you are not inherently superior to the people you do wank to (or even those you don't wank to).  If you're an asshole, you're still worse than someone who is not an asshole but who enjoys being peed on.  Shocking revelation, I know.

And quite honestly, getting urinated on or gang-banged by 38 guys doesn't make people worth any less than you.  Getting gang-banged by 38 women (hell, two women) is the wet dream of most straight guys, so if you're willing to judge a woman for the same thing in reverse then you are a hypocrite.

Maybe, but not necessarily.  Certainly not because of anything they've done sexually if it was consensual.

I'd hit it.  Props to the producers for not pretending to make it anything other than what it is.

Maybe we're interpreting this all wrong. The article states that Fishbourne is upset with his daughter, and we're jumping the gun as to why he is upset. He could be afraid of the backlash against his good name, for all we know, and thats the Cynics perspective.

Another question I have is why Rillion has such strong reactions to this kind of thing.

call me a hypocrite then.
there exists a double-standard in life, that i certainly didn't invent.
case-in-point:
all the brou-haha re: female teachers having sex w/ underage boys.
1: where the fuck were all these queens when i was in school?
2: were it my kid, i'd be(behind the wife's back) ''atta boy''
3: can you imagine the self-esteem boost in the hallways?

''i'm capt. of the football team''
''oh yeah?, well i fucked ms. hottington''

high-fivin' all round, kids be carrying you down the hall on their shoulders, like you single-handedly won the regionals.....

now....if it were a girl???

whore/slut/skank....
girls father blows head of male teacher off w/ shotgun, etc.
girl/family relocate to avoid ''stigma'' (which has happened recently, by the way)

as walter cronkite used to say,
''and that's the way it is''

Another question I have is why Rillion has such strong reactions to this kind of thing.

Mainly because of the reporter's quote-- that this is somehow a crime against her father.  The idea that her putting her own sexuality to work is somehow shameful.  The idea that fathers own their daughters' reproductive activity.  If she isn't harming anyone there is no reason for him to be ashamed of her behavior, and certainly no reason for him to view it as an offense against him.

If he has a problem with what he sees as a bad career choice that's one thing, but if he is a consumer of porn who thinks he can condemn his daughter for taking part in it....no.

Yes, but you have a choice about whether to perpetuate it.  You didn't invent racism, but you're still responsible for being a racist if you are one.   Did this really have to be explained?

Of course a father could condemn it. A father's relationship with porn is a completely different relationship than the one he has with his daughter. At least one would hope it would be. You are comparing apples to oranges.

Just because a father is sexually active does not disqualify him from judging his daughter's choice to show case hers on the big screen just to futher a career.

Maybe I am old, but I do not see how doing porn is going to equal a hollywood career.  Is this a viable way to "make it" today? Sure didn't work for Heather Hunter.

No shit.  Because fathers are too stupid to recognize the fact that the people they are wanking to are some other father's daughters.  No daughters allowed to make porn = no porn, moron.  Stop denigrating the very thing you subsist on.
