I sent a link in email to some folks. Here was one exchange.
email recipient: I vote that the asshat who wrote this deranged shit be the first man in the 'rape cage' and the last to get out. If he survives.
Or he can simply be killed, since he likes the idea so much.
me: You didn't think it resembles a system we already have?
him: I did get the allegory, yes. But this guy's whole approach just rubs me the wrong way. His "rape cage" idea isn't that far off, since when I was in CA (around 1999), the AG at the time, the gangster Bill Lockyear (now Treasurer, I think), made some not-so-pretty comments to the same effect -- an elected state official. It's amazing the hubris of these little Hitlers.
What I see is not so much that "it resembles a system we already have", but I would say that it resembles a system we'd have in place if the corrupt tyrants in Washington DC thought they could get away with it. I'll bet on that.
But they don't, although long strides in the wrong direction certainly exist here. There still exists a set of checks and balances, however battered and assailed; more than one would ever gather reading the agitprop the leftmedia spews daily. Recently we've had such "luminaries" as Thomas Friedman and Woody Allen wishing for a dictatorship, for God's sake.
Useful idiots, one and all. Doom on 'em.
