Title: Sam Dodson: We all miss him, and so does the movement
Post by: GrossObeseBugEyed on May 10, 2012, 02:19:44 PM
We all miss him, and so does the movement. He had a great impact on alot of people. He had great leadership qualities. He was an interesting filmmaker. Some say he leaving was for the better. Others say Ian has never been the same since Sam left, they say that Sam was kind of a checks and balances for Ian, not letting him gain too much power. But this is all speculation. One thing is for sure, Sam Dodson is sorely missed and the movement would be better off with him behind a camera.

I have chatted with his ex- girlfriend. Evidently he believes in some pretty out there stuff, astronomically out there in fact. Me thinks he needed a break.

He's bunkering down to prepare for an alien invasion.

Well that sucks. Why the heck did that happen?! He seemed like a really smart guy. Was his ex gf Meg? (i know, its none of my business) just asking.

A lot of us were stunned by it. It seemed fairly out-of-the-blue to many of us. I can't explain it. I think it started with the Law of Attraction bullshit and went downhill from there.

She called herself Smeg when I communicated with her. That first sign for me that Sam might have issues is when he let that hot little thing go.
I believe in a "God". Dale believes he is part of a "God". Sam believes in a bunch of aliens coming to kill us all and a mud bunker in Texas will protect him. We all have our little quirks. Maybe he'll have a dream communication from Jupiter saying all clear for a decade and he'll come back to NH to lead you against Ian's underbalanced tyranny.
Think positive.

Don't see why this has to make him less a part of the show. I see it as more of a reason to keep him involved. I would amp if we could get him set up on Skype, keeping us updated with live reports from within the bunker on this particular invasion.

What if he's right? What if he has already made contact with the good aliens that are on our side and they gave him advanced warning to hunker down for the coming invasion by the evil greys? What if the only reason he failed to mention it to anyone was out of fear of looking like a complete loon-loon to those he liked?

What if?

LOA did immediately come to mind.

I remember his last show. I got the impression that he was leaving because he thought an even larger, eat-the-dog-style economic and social collapse was coming. But it was aliens all along? I guess he probably never did say exactly what was going to bring about the collapse.

We all miss him.

This is the kind of inaccuracy I feel compelled to refute.

Yeah this is all what I've heard through the grapevine. Nutso.

I was glad when he left though. He used to be a welcome addition to the show and the movement, but more and more all he would talk about is LOA and he kept steering the show hosts/cohosts in that direction as well. His influence was that of someone losing their grip on reality, hopefully living out in Texas will give him a firmer foundation for looking at the world.

Uh, yeah.  I don't miss him at all.  The guy was and is crazy.  The Law of Attraction stuff was ridiculous and it was all he could talk about.  He was able to singlehandedly make the show almost unlistenable for a significant period of time.  I have no idea why Ian and Mark allowed him to stay on the air as long as they did (or why they bought into LoA at the time...not sure where they currently stand on bullshit).  I didn't know the Texas bunker crap was about an alien invasion, but it's not all that surprising.  Maybe Sam is attracting the aliens to Earth!  He's going to kill us all with his mad LoA skills!!!

Yeah, go ahead and laugh, but there will come a day when all of us will be BEGGING for the privilege even to have a seat at the childrens table in his mud Hobbit hut. When the aliens come to turn us all into Soylent Green, Sam is the one who will be laughing last.

Luckily for me, I have my Slim Whitman records to protect me. God help the rest of you.

Honestly, I think death is better than the life I would lead in a post-apocalyptic society where aliens are hunting down and killing the remaining humans.  I better live it up while there's still time!

I should say, in all honestly, I'm ambivalent.  He made some valid points, then according to lore, went kooky.  I never listened to the kooky stuff, because I don't care if he believes in odd shit.

My only point was, I don't miss him.  I'm not shitting on the guy, never met him, and don't intend to.

I did notice a lot of people got irritated with the LOA nonsense, and it became a joke to many listeners.

My opinion is, it's not a "Law", so why call it one?  Call it what it is:  Bastardized belief in Karma.  If you live dangerously, the chances of you getting damaged is higher than people who live cautiously.  If you are of a positive nature, and do good things as much as possible, you'll probably be rewarded with more generosity in return, in all aspects of the word.  (not just financially).

Adding all sorts of mumbo-jumbo on top of it is pointless, and in fact, probably confuses you in the way you'd naturally act.  Might even discourage you in the long run, 'cause you'd be thinking "this shit ain't working", and abandon the philosophy of kindness in favor of being a ruthless bastard when your wishes aren't being realized in the way you envision them.

Excellent way of putting it. It's not a "law". It's more of in general if you do x then you should expect y.

Of course, I think a lot of people string themselves along with believing it's a law in the same way as people who pray for things or cast spells. They just convince themselves their faith isn't strong enough or they're not doing it "right" yet and have to refine their technique.

It isn't Ron Paul's Forum.  It is Ron Paul Forums.  Anyway, I agree that the people there, like the people here, tend to be vastly below average when it comes to activist compared to the average FSP participant.

I know it isn't Ron Paul's forum.

That would be the dumbest thing a dude could ever make, and I've seen some pretty silly shit.

But I have to disagree, I think the people here are pretty smart.  I think they're way smarter than the average FSP participant.

Heres how I arrive at that conclusion:

1) Typically, mature people arrive at the conclusion it would be detrimental for them to participate.
2) Usually, its younger people who participate, not older, rather than more well-developed participants who can actually afford it
3) Millions of traffic, few movers.  I would be willing to bet, that "movers" number has dropped off a cliff in the past two years.
4) Decline in listenership, as evidenced by advertising statistics.  (I look at that with skill).
5) Reverberation.  I like to call that the "magpie".  Nobody says "Ian said."  They used to say that often.

This place is actually learning...   Some of them are actually learning these guys have an agenda.

The listener who observes and participates, and doesn't move..  probly way smater than the FSP participant who does move.

Thats my opinion.  Unless you seek the approval of friends and shit, and want to be included in some fraternal organization.  Then, I got no qualm with that.  More power to ya.  If you like or need to be with a friendly society who welcomes you, I'm totally fine with that.

Just don't delude yourslf that you're making a political impact.  Embrace the fact that it's all about you, and be real about that, and I'll agree thats great for your personal development.

Don't try to bullshit me about being smarter.  Cause, I'll eat your fuckin' lunch.

There is not a single person on this fucking board, or any other, who can tell me they were more effective in Keene than in their home town - spending the same energy.

Think, how much of an impact you could've made disrupting court proceedings in a hundred cities, if y'all woulda remained spread out.  Instead, you focus it onto one little podunk jurisdiction in rural New Hampshire.

They'er a bunch of slack-jawed knuckle-draggin' skallywags, and that includes the bitches.  They drag their mooseknuckle like a fifty-pound bag of potatoes, all rotten and wet on the bottom.  Nobody in their right mind would eat that shredded bag of sickness.

I say we stand 'em in a big field and strafe 'em, and pick off the walking-wounded with exploding arrows.

They're a burden to society, churn them into the soil, let them do something positive and replenish the earth.

But hey, I'm no ecologist.  I donno if that would cause a toxic dump wasteland landmass.  That might not be the most environmentally-friendly method of disposing of such a huge quantity of shit.

I have a IQ of 135, When tested a while back anyway. Sure I have killed a few of those points with alcohol since then, sure as hell been trying. I was a Bush loving Republican til some cops handed me my ass at age 33. Never learned very easy. I think I would still would think the government was just swell had that not had happened.
As it is now I kind of believe in planting small seeds here and there. Say our peace in a reasonable way here and there and some fruit may be bared.
Ron Paul gets more people to look at the gardon than anybody.

I think he was talking about below average activism rather than intelligence, but it's hard to say for sure given the somewhat mangled English.  I'm certainly not an "activist" like the folks up in NH...

Last year I worked quite a bit with the occupy activists. There were some real smart ones who, while I may have disagreed with some of them, at least seemed to "get it" when it came to activism. The vast majority of people though were those who would make every protest and march, but none of the meetings. Would spend all the time you wanted making signs, but none of the time planning real steps. Hell I even know of one guy who thinks its a good idea to try for a "general strike". This dude is unemployed and for all purposes is homeless!

Speaking of Sam, anybody have any guesses as to who came out of the woodwork and threatened who to initiate Sam's instant exit from jail? Shit like that doesn't happen unless someone makes it happen.
