Quickmike, are you a politician?  lol         I say that in jest...

One man can hope.  With the new Lady on FTL, Michelle7, a new hope came over me about Christianity and Liberty.  I am trying to connect with people like me.  I know it's a tear drop in an ocean, but I can hope.

The God I believe in is powerful enough to have what He wants conveyed, conveyed.  I will start a new thread, elsewhere.

I have started another thread called "Romans 13 part 2" in the Hijack-Free Zone.  I started the second thread because no one answered my question.  If you have other stuff you'd like to add, c'mon over.  I will also be starting another thread about the "inerrancy of the bible" as well.

How do you prevent people from posting anything else in a thread?

Well that's unlikely to help.  Since it's in that zone, if someone posts a zinger that makes you look stupid, you can always delete it and waste all their time of thinking about it and posting.  I'm not suggesting you're inclined to do that, just that everything posted there feels kind of fragile and cheap since it could get deleted arbitrarily at any time.  It's discouraging.  The fact that it's arguing about the bible is discouraging enough for me so that's about the extent of my input.

If you amp, you can simply close this thread. If you had started it in the highjack free zone you could have closed it now. Only FTL amps have control of all their threads.
And now that I have pointed that out I am going to post a lot of anti bible drivel.

Nah, im no politician, but I DID try running for city council in the city of Decatur once. I got 235 votes, but they didn't like my "do whatever the fuck you want, just dont hurt anybody" message. Other guy got something like 5,500 votes.

As far as that new hope coming over you about Christianity? Pffffttt, Michelle7?............... pure MILF'age. Its understandable, so no need to explain.

From his new thread:

In the first thread, one guy made one good point.  The bible has been re-written, re-translated, and edited so many times the original and the current NIV are very, very different.   Just look at the King james version, VS the NIV.  This is romans 13 from the King James Version.   It is worded differently, yet leaves room for very different interpretations. This is just one version difference in the bibble, there have been many more prior to this, and many edits, who knows how different the original writings are compaired to what we see today in the bible.

Also, The question is, what is the "higher power" that it speaks of.  Is it government, or is it religious leaders, or ect... ect...  I am a believer, but I agree with a lot of people out their that have done their homework that the Bible you see today is not consistent.  It has been influenced by many people in the past, (over its many edits), that did not have the best intentions.

King James
1Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

2Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

3For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

4For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

5Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

6For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.

7Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

my point is, I don't believe that the original writers of the bible ever intended us to support all governments.   If the government is contradicting to the writings in the bible, and the bible itself tells us that we are supposed to be evangelistic, and spread the word, then that alone tells you that you are supposed to speak out if what your government is doing is contradicting to what the bible teaches, you should then spread the word of God.  I believe that older versions of the bible speak about a "higher power" and are referencing religious leaders, not the governments that you see today.  Because the Governements themselves "resisteth the ordinance of God:" and that means  "and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation".

Thanks Jeff!

ROFL.

As a mod here, I feel the need to point out to the world that both you and "Jeff" are posting from the same IP addy and are possibly the same person.

There's no particular rule here against sock puppeting, but there's no rule against exposing sock puppets either.

If the account isn't a sock puppet, then it's obviously a ringer who lives in the same house as you.

Very Christian of you, BTW.
