Question for Paleo people.
« on: November 03, 2011, 11:53:43 PM »

Pork rinds?

We bought a couple bags of cracklins a but back and I fried them up in a pan with oil. Shit turned into mini pork rinds. Was figuring that rinds without sugar added would almost fit onto the paleo radar.

Next question - Has anyone ever bought the buckets of pork pellets for making rinds?

It's meat. Of course it's OK.

But if you're going to fry them, fry them in lard. You should avoid any oil sourced from grain.

Am I the only one who thinks the paleo diet stuff is just a fad?

I dunno what you mean by fad.

We've been on for two weeks and I am, without trying to, eating about 1/3 of what I used to. Maybe 1/4. It appears that I've lost about 12 pounds.

I have yet to feel hungry. As a matter of fact, while eating between 1/3 and 1/4 of the food I used to eat I have been stuffed after every meal.

The only times M has felt hungry have been when she has to drive in to work and she hasn't been able to get enough fat content in her food. (Something we're working out with variations on recipes.)

Too soon yet for me to call it a success, but it seems to be working so far.

I used to be able to cook up and eat two boxes of Rice-A-Roni or two boxes of Kraft Mac and Cheese and add meat to it and eat the whole thing myself. Now I'm eating a piece of meat, maybe six ounces, a couple half handfuls of veggies, and maybe a cup of fruit. The veggies are usually either fried or dipped in my home made paleo baba ghanoush.

Last night was steak, sweet potato fries, (About half of a good sized sweet potato between the two of us.) fried carrots and garlic cloves. I added a few Brussels sprouts and some mustard greens for me. (M is not a fan)

We're experimenting with shish kabob baked with lard and/or coconut oil. First attempt was a hit.

Well, I was just making sure.

I need to order a pail of that grass fed tallow.

John, you might want to look into getting EzSweetz as an artificial sweetener if you're having sugar cravings at all. It's the best tasting stuff out there, including Stevia, and I've tried everything. It's basically Splenda without the dextrose filler (that I think makes it have that nasty bitter aftertaste, IMHO).

It's $22 for 3 bottles of 450 servings each on Amazon. I'm finally at the end of my first bottle, and I've used it tons in the last two months.

It totally makes my life easier with adding sweetness to espresso, iced tea, and recipes like Panang curry.

I'll have to check it out.

I've only had one craving, and that was last night for about five minutes.

I seriously wanted a fucking Toffifay. Ate some pork cracklings and was fine in ten minutes.

My diet consists of meat and naked fruit juice.

My workout routine consists of chatting up college girls at the nearby gym.

Maybe I'll write a book and make a bucket full of FRNs

Well I can't argue with success!

Yeah, this paleo diet is just this year's fad. In any case, why on earth would I think it a good idea to eat like people did when the life expectancy was only about thirty years?
