Podcasts other than FTL you listen to
« on: November 06, 2011, 10:21:48 AM »

I just tried some of Jesse Brown's podcasts at:  http://feeds.tvo.org/tvo/searchengine

and I think they're pretty interesting with discussion about internet freedom being a main topic.

Been listening to Joe Rogan's podcast quite a bit lately. http://www.joerogan.net/

Free Talk Live has been getting more airtime in the car lately, after taking a break from it for quite some time. I get bored with everything after a while though and then come back to it when it is far enough removed from the daily routine to seem fresh again.

I got so sick and tired of Skeptics Guide and their government worship. I just couldn't stand it anymore. I still love Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, I just have to overlook their Ron Paul jokes and pro-government stance on everything. The shows with PJ O'Rourke are great though because he's somewhat libertarian leaning.

Oh, BTW.

If you find yourself on a road trip listening to NPR and a show comes on called The Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor, turn it off immediately, or you'll probably fall asleep, crash your car and die in a huge fireball.

You have been warned.

I used to work at a lefty independent bookstore, so I've heard more than my fair share of Prairie Home Companion

Some of my favorite non-FTL podcasts are:

Antiwar Radio (get the full feed where Scott rants like a madman between interviews--good stuff)
Common Sense with Dan Carlin
Hardcore History with Dan Carlin
Freedoman Radio
Lew Rockwell Show
The Libertarian Tradition
Liberty Conspiracy
Nobody Likes Onions
Smodcast

I also listen to old episodes of Harry Brown's podcast. Think of it like Free Talk Live with a calm, level-headed kindly old man replacing Mark and Ian.

(I drive for a living so I have plenty of time for podcasts)

I've been quite amused by that show on the occasions when I heard it.  <.<  >.>  <.<

That's odd about SGU, since host Steve Novella is a libertarian. They seldom bring up politics on the show, though.

And, I for one, enjoy "Prairie Home Companion," but the cheap bastards don't podcast the entire show. They only give away Keillor’s  monologue.

I think one gets limited by only listening to people you agree with. Sometimes, it’s good to be exposed to other ideas.

Puke and the Gang
Skeptic's Guide to the Universe
Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me  if its on the radio and I happen to be ina car.
Just listened to every episode of the Zombie Podcast We're Alive this week.

I also watch The Nostalgia Critic videos which are kind of like a podcast because he talks the whole time :P

The SGU does tend to run statist because some of the people in it are working to greater regulate the market against homeopathic medicine, but I dont listen to them for the politics anyway.

A lot of the stuff on NPR I have found that if they are discussing something that interests me then I find that they know way less about the subject than I do and they are totally butchering it and ignoring certain important aspects. That angers me. Especially when they talk about economics, which I dont know that much about, but still find reasons to get angry because they dont consider voluntary means.

I agree, Prairie Home Companion is boring.

I just meant, they are skeptical of everything EXCEPT government claims, which they accept at face value most of the time. I agree they didn't bring up politics much, it was just the direction they leaned.
