no one has birds? What happened to birds? Nobody likes birds, anymore.

I used to have birds, both inside the house and outside. Inside, it was finches, canaries, cockatiels, and parrots. We had a big aviary in the living room, and one entire room filled with smaller cages. Outside, about eighty or so racing pigeons.

Birds are noisy. I repeat, birds are freakin' noisy! Also, they preen themselves with a waterproof coating, which leaves a silver dust on everything. Pigeon racing takes a great deal of time. During the race season, you have to run them down the road fifty miles or so a couple times a week to build up their muscles. One day, I just got tired of the noise and the hassle, and inside a week there wasn't a feather to be found on the property.

I still enjoy birds, but watch them in the wild now.

I had a parrot once but it was far too noisy. My family has birds, but they are for food purposes only.

We had squab once in awhile for dinner. I remember once that one of the club racers got so fed up with his birds always losing races that he stewed the lot of them! Every week, after the race, a potluck was held. He brought in a big slow cooker. "Boys, eat up. I'm out of the sport!"

My dog made me drive him to Riverside Park on Sunday. I was just going to take him for a run through the neighborhood, but he jumped in the truck when I got the leash, and wouldn't get out.

Okay, so I didn't try that hard to drag him out. How could anyone tell that face he doesn't get to go scampering through creeks?

He's so cute.   :D

One of our dogs died on Saturday, so I've been kind of sad for the past few days.  I miss him.  He was my first puppy.  My mom and dad got him for me when I was 10.

Sorry, didn't mean to put a damper on things.   :?

I'm sorry to hear that you've lost your childhood pup.

Don't apologize. Not a damper. Reminds me to appreciate the dopey dog curled up by my desk.
He's getting an extra sock monkey slipper back scratch right now, just 'cause.

This is Chico Suave. He is a fucking prince and don't you forget it.

This is when he was a ghetto food stamp queen

This is when he had down syndrome

This is when he posed for playgirl

This is the last time he paid for sex

This was when he was introspective

This was when he was a street fighter

This was when he was Asian.

God, he's so hot right now...

Keely, Chico is a cutie. I'm not a little dog person, but my mother would swoon over him.

----

Elise, are those cargo pockets on the doggie sweaters? Do your dogs carry snacks, in case of emergency?

Um... Yeah.
I had the dumb idea to put dog treats in their pockets, just to see what they would do. They ignored them until I left them alone and chewed them to bits. They no longer have those jackets :-P

And I agree - Chico is a sweetheart :D he looks spoiled rotten though!
