:lol:I am laughing as I read this thread, I agree with the more intelligent posts and wanted to hear others than me express sketicism within some of the conspiracy discussions...
At another board I post at there are a couple of certified kooks (IMO) who believe stuff that is so bizarre and outlandish that you have to question their sanity and/or ability to reason. Of course, they have an endless supply of links to "prove" their positions. But as I tell them, anything can be proven on the internet.
One example is that 9/11 was pulled off by Washington.
As I see it, government can only do about 4 things really well: coerce, plunder, destroy and kill. It does so recklessly with very little planning needed because they monopolize the use of force, the making of rules, and the interpretation of those rules.
Yet, listening to these kooks, we are to believe they are cunning, competent, and nimble enough to organize and execute the crimes of 9/11 -- AND manage to bury all the evidence for nine years and counting.
The fact that several convicted terrorists, going back at least to the first attempt to bring down the towers (1993?), have all stated in court, on the record, that their motivation was the U.S.'s foreign policy in the Middle East makes no difference to the conspiracy kooks. (Or hardly anyone else, for that matter)
And beyond that, even if Washington DID do 9/11, so what? No matter what kind of dog and pony hearings they would have, nobody's head would roll. It's business as usual, and we still have to put up with them no matter what they may or may not have done.
