People who want less government are only tools of the elites
« on: October 23, 2011, 01:30:20 PM »

One of the big complaints levied against the "Wall Street Occupiers" is that they don't know what they're protesting so, I asked some of them and it's true - They don't have a clue about what's wrong with this country. They talk about wall street ripping people off, big banks and the wealthy paying no taxes, and the resulting wealth disparity and no more jobs.

Well, DUH?????

Have they ever stopped to think about what caused all this? ANY OF THEM?

It's called - Elections and candidates controlled by the MONEY of the elites!

Government is bad now because it no longer represents the people, it represents big bucks. People who want to get rid of government are only tools of the elites. There's nothing the wealthy and the media want more than  - less government.

And, why shouldn't they? Government creates equality and interferes with inequality of their campaign financing.

Solution - All election campaigns must be *publicly funded by the people* with free access to all media for ALL candidates! Election day  - shall be a national holiday.

No more billionaires!
No more wealthy Ronald Reagan like actors!
No more wall street/pentagon whores and foreign lobbyists in OUR government!

NO MORE RULE BY THE RULING CLASS!

Sounds like injecting a little socialism into our system doesn't it?

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!.............OH MY GOD, NOT THAT!

X10

"No more billionaires!"

So now you want to control who can and cant run for president, based on what they make?

"No more wealthy Ronald Reagan like actors!"

So you cant be an actor and run for office?

"Government is bad now because it no longer represents the people, it represents big bucks. People who want to get rid of government are only tools of the elites. There's nothing the wealthy and the media want more than  - less government"

No, they want less government for themselves, exclusively. They dont want less government for YOU.

We should be promoting less government for EVERYONE, including big companies as well as the little guy.

Seems like you're buying right into this whole class warfare thing that the occupy wall street people are all caught up in.

I never said I wanted to ban anyone from running for office, actors or billionaires. I'm saying there will be no more actors or billionaires elected once *government* provides real guidelines for elections and *election media coverage* so the *people* will have real choice.

"No, they want less government for themselves, exclusively. They dont want less government for YOU."

No, they want less government PERIOD, because it works out as less government for you only! They want the cops not to be regulated by government because they have their own private cops in their own private communities etc.

The people need government protection but the wealthy do not. The wealthy simply buy their own private protection. When you remove "all" government protection you really only remove protection from the working class and the environment.

Sounds like you've bought into this "less government is the answer" BS.

You must like Sean Hannity.

Yes, I've bought into the whole "less government is the answer" thing. Secondly, Sean Hannity is a douchebag and I cant stand to even look at the guys face. I wanna smash it with a baseball bat, but thats not my nature, so I just dont watch him.

Why is it so hard to for you to imagine that the "working class" could buy their own protection services? We buy every other service under the sun on a voluntary basis, so why not that?

You just dont get it. You believe that a government strong enough to protect you will never be tempted to use that strength of force against you as well. They do it every day. On the other hand, I've never had the Orkin man force me to accept and pay for his services, or Wal-Mart force me to shop in their stores, but the government does this every single day. I have to pay for it even if I dont want it.

I think you are confusing cronie capitalism, where the government creates monopolies for big corporations through regulations forcing out the competition, with a true free market.

I think thats the main problem here.

The wealthy aren't people?

Apparently not!!

I suppose a wealthy guy can start out as a person, as a newborn baby, naked and helpless, but once he grows up and comes up with a great idea for a service, employing hundreds of people, creating wealth and commerce for them through his hard work........... he then ceases to be a human. He's an abomination!!!!

It's not a matter of less government, but less idiotic rules that have no value in terms of the outcomes. And that these rules, in fact, cause the problems that persist today. For example, Wall Street has been living high on fancy financial footwork. There's no real investment, savings, and production today. Whatever that comes out today is due to the fact that someone can cook the books and get the government to cover their ass when (not if) the shit hits the fan. So, demanding more government protections for these institutions is naive at best and malicious at worse.

The working class already buys their protection through taxes, and if you don't like the protection they provide you can vote them out of office. You can only turn to another private protection service if there's one available AND you can AFFORD IT! That's not possible for everyone.

Anyone or any organization can threaten your existence, but if the government does it you can vote them out of office! Try telling Exxon Mobile you're going to stop buying their gas when they own every station in town. Good Luck!

You just don't want to accept the fact that you let YOUR government fall into the hands of big corporations. YOU let it happen and it would happen again in your free market pipe dream too.

At least we agree on Hannity though.

"So, demanding more government protections for these institutions is naive at best and malicious at worse."

So getting the government out of the way so corporations can ship all our jobs to China for bigger profits is how it should be? Removing that government protection of the American worker was a good idea? Gotta love THAT freedom! Especially if you're a big CEO who doesn't work for a living anyway! Right?

Not trying to throw my weight around either. Dude can post his silly stuff until it gets really obnoxious.

But seriously, let's not pretend this guy is making arguments of any weight or substance.

Just sayin'

I, personally suspect that "Not Freedom" is actually one of the good guys (A liberty type person) who's screwing around for fun.
