Yeah. Last season my wife and I were into the show. This season it is a lot more "fuck the fucking fuck you fucking fuck!!!" and less evidence.

Still, they show boobs a lot so I'll keep watching.  :P

I'm a huge anti-censorship freak, as you all know, but I also believe in parents' rights, and I think it's reasonable that buying / selling / exchanging certain "mature" products or services (sex, drugs, alcohol, violent stuff, etc) require explicit parental permission.  Sure, it would be nice if the parents could be expected to monitor their kids 100% of the time, and emerging technology is gradually making it easier, but it still seems very far from realistic.

In an Anarcho-Capitalist society, responsibility for "unconsentual" transactions in theory could be enforced through litigation - if you sell my kid something that can cause mental or physical damage, I should be able to sue you.  This would of course have negative side-effects, one of those being that even selling eggs and peanut butter to anyone who isn't an emancipated adult carries a potential liability.  What if the kid eggs someone's house, or what if s\he's allergic to peanut butter?  On the other hand it would be fairly easy to establish a system of relaying parental consent: malls may require under-18 shoppers to use a special credit card that they can only get with parents' permission, etc.  Most teenagers would have this explicit permission to buy the things that teenagers are typically allowed to buy.

A bigger problem is the issue of less formal exchanges of information: can I sue you for just talking to my kid, or seeding a bittorrent file that my kid downloads?

Thanks for the link, Libman.  I will see if I can get around to watching this today or tomorrow.  This one hopefully will be pretty interesting.  Next one I'm looking forward to is the organic food one.

Finally saw an episode, it was the Violent Video Game one. It was better than I thought it would be due to them having the kid shoot a gun and the apologetic ending.

When will episode 5 come out?

They air every Thursday with no gaps, so #5 -- Lie Detectors -- was supposed to be last night, Organic Food on July 30th, then Taxes on August 6th.  I'm during one of my no-broadband phases at the moment (Gulching ain't easy - my EDGE/GPRS connection is hardly working here), but finding a torrent shouldn't be too hard...

No, and I figure that after the one on Taxes you wouldn't want them to.  I'm a pessimist to begin with, and my experience with the "skeptics" on the JREF forum shows that much of the show's target audience is pretty darn socialist - even if P&T are genuine minarchists they still can't afford to alienate them.  They'll probably do a smear-job on people like Ed Brown and the various crackpot legal theories, and end with "no one likes taxes, but ya gotta pay"...  :x

I watched the lie detector episode last night and it showed a woman beat the polygraph by contracting and relaxing their asshole. I knew that you could beat the polygraph by controlling your body but I never thought that you can beat it by using your butthole.

I'm confused, have you seen one on taxes or haven't you?

Edit:

Never mind I see it's coming up.

I wouldn't be so sure. I wouldn't expect them to come out and say 'taxes are stealing' that's not really what the show is about. (Too moralising?) I'd guess something along the lines of how ridiculously complicated they are.

They will be the first ones rounded up by their beloved state because they have entirely closed minds when it comes to this subject.

Whether they're first or middle or last is a matter of circumstance, but tyrants do tend to be ruthless in dealing with the little butt-kissers who are supposedly on their side.  Stalin's purges are a perfect example.  Even "Judas goats" eventually get slaughtered.

I hope they don't use some social contract arguments in this.
