Imagine you find yourself in a prison with no chance of getting out. You get used to it. Life could be better or could be worse: you get three meals a day, and you've developed some hobbies you enjoy.
Then one day the prison warden announces: "There's been a murder! Jihad Jack got out of his 'special' cell and got to Wimpo Taxcheatstein! Man, there were pieces of old Wimpo all over the cell-block! *sob* *sob* This sort of thing cannot be tolerated! We are responsible for all your safety, and there are going to be some changes around here!"
And changes come. Life gets worse. The prisoner food budget is reduced to pay for the new security measures, and everyone has to be strip-searched twice daily. Most prisoners accept what they're told: it's for their safety. You start to think that way too, but then you hear various rumors flying around. You don't know what the objective reality is, and being in a different wing than where the murder took place you can only go by what you hear. It was after "lights out" and in a special section of the prison, so quite possibly no other prisoner clearly saw what happened, and needless to say Jihad Jack hasn't been seen or heard from again.
Various rumors say that there's no way this could be a legitimate murder - this prison never had anything like it before! Sure, there was this beating eight years ago, but nothing like this! Lots of money was already being spent to have guards patrolling the halls 24/7, and they had to know Jihad Jack was the worst psycho they had! The motherfucker chewed off his victims' flesh while they begged and screamed! They always have to keep special cases like that in completely isolated one-man cells, how the hell did he manage to get loose? There had to be like half a dozen different locks and gates to stop him!
Some rumors say the guards did the whole thing: killed the poor Wimpo in cold blood because the state was expected to cut spending on prison security, with some guard layoffs coming up, but now they've had to increase it instead. Other rumors say they handcuffed Wimpo and threw him in Jihad Jack's cell, and even told Jihad Jack the little guy was saying lewd things about his mother.
More rumors say some guard left those cell doors unlocked. Some say it was deliberate. Some that it was an accident: the guard simply had a few drinks too many and forgot. Both seem possible, but no guards have ever been fired.
Ultimately you don't care how Wimpo got killed exactly, you just want to get out of that prison. If you were a free man, no Jihad Jack could even get close to you or your family without getting shotgunned in half!
