Wow!  (in response to the video) It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

Waste all that blood money on education for the masses, and this is what you get for your money...all that time they spent, and they could have learned a trade or something.

"They just can't rap their heads around the idea that a for-profit health-care system doesn't work."--some idiot

Wow.  To this rube, mercantilism, fascism, corporatism, capitalism, and for-profit are all the same thing, no doubt.

Along the same lines, I've been hearing this term "public/private partnership" more often, which of course has a lot in common with some of those terms above.  When I endeavor to define a public/private partnership, I see it as a market endeavor in which the state and moneyed interests cooperate to guarantee that profits are maximized and (corporate) investment risk minimized by utilization of monopoly force, and if necessary, violence.  I don't see anything there that I want to support.

Occupy Charlotte now exists. Saw a banner in the crowd today that said "TAKE IT BACK" and had an anarchy sign on it. Read a story that said the local protests were to go full steam ahead since all necessary permits had been obtained. .....

Also noticed lots of people drinking bottled water, which is far more expensive than gasoline/bad for the environment/bottled and sold by CORPORATIONS. ....

Found a link to an official (I guess it is) list of grievances and, without researching anything, quickly typed out some replies to them. Thought it might be fun for you to try this at home. Poke holes in anything I've typed in there, and school me on what I don't know about.

From: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/10/02/wall-street-protesters-approve-declaration-of-occupation/

They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
-

They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give Executives exorbitant bonuses.
- The gov. provided the means for the corporations to get the bailout money.

They have perpetuated inequality and discrimination in the workplace based on age, the color of one’s skin, sex, gender identity and sexual orientation.
- Instantly makes this a leftist movement and probably will alienate many conservatives who sympathize with their position. Also creates an atmosphere where anyone who disagrees is a bigot by default. Also has naught to do with

global economy.

They have poisoned the food supply through negligence, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
- Claims (that I happen to side with) not fact.

They have profited off of the torture, confinement, and cruel treatment of countless animals, and actively hide these practices.
- Yet many protestors will be wearing leather and eating burgers. Has naught to do with global economy.

They have continuously sought to strip employees of the right to negotiate for better pay and safer working conditions.
- Unions exist.

They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
- Incomprehensibly weak argument. Attenidng school is voluntary after age 16.

They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
- Outsourcing to escape Gov. intrusion and taxation. I side with this complaint, but the fix is in "The 99%" 's purchasing power, not with further gov. regulation.

They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
- The gov. provides the means for this.

They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.
- The gov. provides the means for this. Purchasing power will fix this.

They have sold our privacy as a commodity.
- You submitted your information, probably without reading the fine print.

They have used the military and police force to prevent freedom of the press. They have deliberately declined to recall faulty products endangering lives in pursuit of profit.
- Specifics needed, otherwise this is a whine.

They determine economic policy, despite the catastrophic failures their policies have produced and continue to produce.
- The gov. provides the means for this. Purchasing power will fix this.

They have donated large sums of money to politicians, who are responsible for regulating them.
- ...and here you are asking those same politicians nicely to stop this nonsense, right? Ingenious.

They continue to block alternate forms of energy to keep us dependent on oil.
- ..and you keep buying the oil.

They continue to block generic forms of medicine that could save people’s lives or provide relief in order to protect investments that have already turned a substantial profit.
- The gov., FDA, which you are appealing to provides the means for this.

They have purposely covered up oil spills, accidents, faulty bookkeeping, and inactive ingredients in pursuit of profit.
- The gov. provides the means for this. Purchasing power will fix this.

They purposefully keep people misinformed and fearful through their control of the media.
- Sounds right-wingish.. Evil Jews? Information is everywhere. If you're uninformed, you're to blame.

They have accepted private contracts to murder prisoners even when presented with serious doubts about their guilt.
- Corporations did this? Mercenaries? Who contracted them? Do drone attacks on foreign soil count?

They have perpetuated colonialism at home and abroad. They have participated in the torture and murder of innocent civilians overseas.
- Specifics?

They continue to create weapons of mass destruction in order to receive government contracts. *
- Good god.. and who do you suppose is purchasing those weapons?

To the people of the world,

We, the New York City General Assembly occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power.

Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone.
- BUT DO GET YOUR PERMITS FIRST!

90% + fucking morons.

M'irite or what?

I suggest that you read some books on self-esteem. Generally, a person who accuses another person of being a moron does so because they have low self-esteem. This tendency is fairly well-documented. The same goes for the terms stupid, jerk, idiot, etc... If you say them, you really are talking about yourself.

As a Free Talk Live moderator, you have to be a little bit smarter than the average person. Spreading hate makes you look less than honorable. Calling somebody you've never met a "moron" definitely falls outside the spectrum of being peaceful. Spreading hate against an entire class of people (the Occupiers) is not much different than spreading hate against a religion, a race or a sexual orientation.

The occupiers are not a class of people. They are largely a group of people who have a lot of shared beliefs and those beliefs have brought them together. If you think the beliefs that bind a group together are irrational (e.g. fundamentalist Christians or socialists), then it makes sense to be critical of that group. Whether the beliefs that bring occupiers together and encourage them to label themselves "the 99%" or whatever are actually irrational is a separate discussion. I'm just pointing out that it's a very poor analogy to compare a group bound by beliefs to a group bound by a shared trait that has nothing to do with their rational thought processes or lack thereof, like their race or sexual orientation.

Also, while it's not very polite to use a word like "moron" and arguably not very productive for a discussion, it might be apt if you're addressing a belief that makes no sense to you. The more relevant issue is whether you can back your criticism up with some logic of your own.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into some books on self-esteem, although I dont think that is the issue.

My biggest issue is my low tolerance for ignorant people who wont put the 10 seconds reasearch into something to find out the root cause of the problem they face. I'll admit thats a problem area for me. I tend to fly off the handle on those guys. Perhaps an anger-management book would be more suitable for my situation. I tend to have a very favorable outlook on myself. I might even go so far as to say that I consider myself in the top "1%" when it comes to critical thinking LOL ....... get it, "1%"? Aww man, anyway, thanks again for the suggestion, but I think you are way off base as far as the self-esteem thing goes. I'm pretty sure its just anger.

Also, as Dale has already mentioned, these people are not a "class" of people. They are a group of people with the same wrong-headed ideas about what is to be expected from others. In this case, they are a group of people that believe that the world owes them something simply due to their own existance. Those people piss me off and I have no problem admitting I have a low tolerance for them. Whether its the occupier movement or the warmongering a-holes that believe they should run the planet on the backs of the taxpayer, its all the same to me.

As for the moderator comment...... really? Come on man, im just here to keep the spammers out and make sure nobody threatens anyone. Thats about it. I'm just a regular guy. Maybe its my low self-esteem making me say that though. Maybe as a moderator, im supposed to think of myself as some kind of god-like deity who lives above the fray.

I still say the occupiers are morons though. Feels good too. Its a stress release if nothing else.

OWS has attracted a lot of aimless, homeless, junkies, criminals, misfits and others who could give a shit less about politics. They're just there for the party. Word on the skreet is there have been more than a few rapes that the OWS royalty have covered up.
