NULLIFICATION TIME!! HCR19 passes the NH House!
The New Hampshire House of Representative approved a resolution Wednesday asserting the right of the state to nullify unconstitutional federal laws.

If NH nullified the federal income tax, I would move there within two weeks.

The politicos have a fit when activists smoke pot in a park, I agree with you, they'll never grow a pair big enough to nullify the federal income tax. They will just pussy out and nullify sily federal laws that mean nothing, then goddard will crow triumph from the mountain top. I'd like to see what happens when counties in NH start nullifying state laws, bet that would cause a big shiticane, hypocrisy at it's finest.

If I remember right, the sheriff of any given county is the supreme law of the land too, even over the state. That would be interesting to see.

Fun times ahead maybe.

Yea, I thik when the feds tell the state that they will be getting $0 from the federal government then any silly little law the state passes will be moot.

Most of the time, I would agree with that. In the case of NH though, they are a donor state, which means they give more to the feds than they get back in federal spending to their state. If I was king of NH, I would tell the feds to fuck off and I'd fund  my own stuff and give the balance back to everyone who would have normally paid it to the fed.

Everyone wins........... cept the fed.

Actually, a good first step is to de-legislate pot on the state level and refuse to enforce the federal law unless the "offender" crossed state lines.  We all know the interstate commerce clause can't possibly apply (despite the bullshit SCOTUS rulings) in that case.

I say start with the big stuff first, worry about the little stuff later.

No offense to the weed smokers that think legalizing weed is a big deal. Sure, its the right thing to do, but why give the federal govt practice fighting states in court on smaller stuff? Get them on the big things first while they are unprepared for it.

Cool. Be interesting to see what they do with this. Is the greater support for nullification because of the health care/forced insurance?

I think trying to nullify the income tax would be overreach at the moment.  Right now the idea of nullification has yet to get established in this country.  So far the federal government and the state governments have been dancing around the issue.  The state governments pass several smaller more symbolic nullification efforts while the federal government pretends that they never occurred.  What will have to happen is that the state government's pass something a little more concrete which would require the federal government to acknowledge the attempt at nullification and then either attempt to compel the states or to back down.  Once the principle is more firmly established then it would be more feasible to tackle larger issues like the income tax.

More nullification stuff coming down the pipeline... in the form of liberty pacts. ie, if 2 other states commit to stand against federal law X, so will NH.
Story developing....
