My John Galt Speech moment.

You just elected the pro-war party into the Federal House of Representatives.

The governments of rest of the world are talking openly about a currency war with the United States. Leading, presumably, to a trade war.

In such a war -- one the opposite to the kind we've actually prepared for -- the value of America's exports will shrivel, just as the value of the dollar does the same. If it ain't made here, we can't afford it. And we spent the last few decades decimating our manufacturing & production capacity.

Well, at least it will be end of the wars of empire. We won't be able to afford them. We haven't for a decade or two, but now it's starting to actually matter.

Place your bets. I'm laying mine on real money.

You FTL people know where to get some. Go get some.

For those of you who had the brains to own actual physical silver and gold, congratulations! For those of you who ridiculed these people as 'nuts', I'm sure this constantly growing pile of evidence is inconsequential to your confirmation bias and hatred of free commerce.

Prez of the World Bank is saying we need a gold standard.

Leading economies should consider readopting a modified global gold standard to guide currency movements, argues the president of the World Bank.

Writing in the Financial Times, Robert Zoellick, the bank’s president since 2007, says a successor is needed to what he calls the “Bretton Woods II” system of floating currencies that has held since the Bretton Woods fixed exchange rate regime broke down in 1971.

Translation: Adopt a "gold standard" so we can rape the value out of that too.

The pro-war party?

I agree. Not that much difference between 'em. But, if we can keep em at each others' throats for a while, we may be able to breathe at least a *little* better.
