My Charges Were Dropped

On 2008-02-19, while out of my mind, on drugs, and sleep deprived, I started a fire in my house. I was charged with First Degree Arson.

Today, 2009-07-17, I got a letter from the DA saying the charges would not prosecuted at this time. My lawyer thinks this is the last I'll hear of it.

It seems surreal.

Did your folks file charges? Or was it just the government putting its dong in the punchbowl like it usually does?

And yes, it is good news that your charges were dropped.  Congratulations.  You seem to be doing very well now, I hope that continues for you.   8)

Make sure u keep that letter from the DA, they might try to charge you again in like 3-5 years right before statute of limitation expire, and maybe Scan it and put it somewhere on the internet in case you try to burn down your house again

Negroe, I didn't say anything about hugs and shit like that.  Obviously they did the right thing by getting him help and supporting him through it.  I don't think it's very easy to figure out you're schizophrenic and could have killed your whole family inadvertently.

I'm not too worried about it. As far as I know everybody (doctors/forensic psychiatrists) agreed I was not in my right mind. The longer it goes without a relapse, the less chance of them having any reason to put me in prison or a hospital.
