Title: Misheard lyrics
Post by: Turd Ferguson on September 24, 2011, 10:36:24 AM
When I hear a song lyric wrong and learn that what I was hearing was wrong, it doesn't matter. My mind is already made up that what I heard the first time was the right lyric.

Its a curse.

I know its hard to think of these off the top of your head, because you dont remember them till you hear the song, but if you can recall any, post them here. I'mma see how this works. Might be a total failure thread.

0:53 - "Feelin'......like a Ham n' Mustard shake"

2:42 - "But don'cha know that its wrong, its wrong, its wrong, but like the zombie it caught by the wink of an eye"

0:40 - "Oh, pink hotel that Lion-O"

I don't remember me mishearing to many lyrics. Back in the 80's I asked a Top Gun fan Buddy I had what the lyrics to this song were. He said "Suck my cock...its as hard as a rock." without losing a beat. I thought his line was hysterical and remember even though the incident was over two decades ago.

Thats pretty messed up, cuz I just played the youtube and if you say "suck my cock, its as hard as a rock" along with the lead guitar notes....... it fits perfectly even when you just keep repeating it in a loop.

James Reyne from Australian Crawl. Good music, except you can barely understand a fucking thing he sings. You can't help but have misheard lyrics with this guy. You just take your best guess at what he is on about. He has a good voice, it just seems he adds loads of extra vowels into each word.

Since I've ripped on the poor bugger a bit, I'll just throw in what I think is one of his better songs. He is easier to understand in this one.

Also, as a kid I thought "White Wedding" by whoever had the lyrics "Alien sister what have you done?" and thought it was telling a goofy sitcom story like in E.T. (I was a kid in the 90's remember).

Thats weird.

Just like 3 hrs ago I was in the process of learning to play the unplugged acoustic version of this song. I haven't thought about this song in years and something made me think "hey, that was a cool riff....I wanna learn it acoustic"

Weird shit like this has been happening to me alot lately. I dont know whats up with that.

"One more light"

I remember being a silly 4 year old and singing that to the porchlight, using a golf club as a microphone.

Does anyone remember Blondie and her song "Rapture"? Finger fucking, twenty four hour sucking - rapture!

And, Manfred Mann's "Blinded by the Light"? I always though he said "wrapped up like a douche" but learned later it was "deuce".

But, for the purists, Here's Bruce - who wrote it...

I thought it was "ripped up like a douche" which makes even less sense.

I honestly thought the word was douche. :( Thought he was being bilingual or thought the shower in Europe had a clingy shower curtain or something. By the By, believe or not that is the Bosses only number 1.
I somehow believe this video belongs here.

Speaking of parodies, did you know that "Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)" by John Fred was a parody of the Beatles "Lucy In The Sky (With Diamonds)"?
