White folks have been conditioned for too long now for this to impact them as it should. The first reaction is likely to quickly click away from the story, followed by thinking BJ positively has racist tendencies to even post a link to this, and then they'll mentally search for a loophole to blame the victim, and finally they'll simply forget all about it, reserving that emotion for minority victims.

"Hate Crimes" is stupid though.

I think hate crimes are stupid tack on penalties.  When anyone attacks another person, other than in self-defense, it is safe to assume they are not attacking out of love.  It is criminalizing motive nothing more.  Possibly another step closer to subverting the first amendment on free speech so that hate speech laws can be passed.
