Don't hold your breath. Microsoft has been putting billions into R&D, and some of their recent products have been very good. They're also diversifying, so the OS will no longer be the single leg that's holding up the company.

I'd say Microsoft forgot to make their scheduled payoff to Gartner.
No other reason I can imagine for Gartner to write anything negative about Microsoft, whether or not it's supported by the facts.
