Let me guess a little. 1956, 1 ton, 4 wheel drive, Chevrolet cameo cab. I would say it once had a 327cid but probably has a 350 now. And a 4 speed.
Like to know how I did. Beautiful machine though. Did you do the restoration?
wayyyy off.
'57
1/2 ton

cameo was the shortbed fleetside version w/ fiberglass rear fenders
You can figure a lot about a guy by the truck he drives.
I've only seen one other functioning work truck from the 50's. Friend of my Dads who used the thing in his landscaping business. He had a new pickup but spotted a memory in a Field and built himself another work truck that fit him better. He cheated though, used a modern rebuilt motor, but it was otherwise stock. A 54 ford I think. It was also a halfton and had utility flatbed.
I used a few "1/2" ton pickups from the '40s and '50s as a kid. I swear they could carry more weight then the "3/4" ton ford I used to have. (It was a '92, sold it when I couldn't stand fixing it anymore)
Old pickups have a special soul few understand. My Dad got me to semi restore a '47 ford half ton stepside (yes I know in 47 it was just the feckin box) in the mid 80s. It was minimalist, just get it legal and sorta safe. Anyway a old friend of my dads, who grew up in the 40s, asked to take it for a spin. He was tearing up after the trip.
I thought he was a little silly then, but I get it a little better now.
