Im gonna get one of these two lever action cowboy rifles and was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with owning one or both of these. I like the simple looks of the Henry but it costs a buttload more but has a walnut stock and the Marlin has some kind of birchwood stock. Looks arent the main thing. Build quality and smoothness of action are the biggest deal for me. Any first hand experience would be cool.
Marlin $429

Get the Marlin if you're going hunting.
Get the Henry if you're a collector.

Marlins have good build quality.

What a waste of money...

What a waste of money...
Guns in general, or this particular type?

This particular type is definitely a waste of money.
Whether all guns are a waste of money is a more complicated question. Having a nice modern weapon in your home definitely raises the cost of tyranny to the point where they may run out of willing agents, like Solzhenitsyn said. But collecting overpriced hunting antiques... humbug!

Have plenty of modern ones, just always wanted a cowboy rifle. Dont plan on chimpin out on the feds at all with any of them. Youre gonna lose that battle everytime.
Getting one for shooting coyotes mainly.
Put a bid on Gunbroker for the Henry at $475 and if I dont win, I'll get the Marlin.
