A lot of the music I write has a pro-liberty message. God only knows if I'll ever get it recorded though.

I love that. Reading that made me want to buy the hard-copy, which I like even more. I only wish they were going to do The American Zone too, which I e-mailed them about and they said they weren't.

it would be fucking kick ass if someone made a mockumentary of future world in which liberty wins and people could be shown how the market could respond to meet their transportation, safety, education, etc. needs
That would be unimaginably lame.

I think The Probability Broach should be made into a movie.

Today I saw Space Chimps. It took some good shots at government. My favorite line was something like (said by a fed agent to a man having his property confiscated) "Thank you for cooperating with your government, under threat of force". There was also one alien who gets a little power and instantly sets himself up as ruler of the planet (this isn't a spoiler, it is the basis for about half of the plot). When the basis for his power is questioned, he responds pretty harshly.

Also this weekend I saw The Golden Compass which comes off as STRONGLY libertarian, with a world world led by a sort of Theocracy.

Yes, listen to Rush. They are a fantastic progressive rock band that has very principled libertarian ideals. I own every single one of their albums and they are just fantastic. Another cool libertarian-esque band is Queensryche. I highly recommend Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime, masterpiece. Gamma Ray also is a band with a pretty nice libertarian tinge to it. Frank Zappa was a libertarian (when he was alive that is) and almost ran on the Libertarian Party's ticket. He was principled until the day he died and was a fantastic composer/rock legend. Primus tends to have a left-libertarian philosophy about them and Helloween has some songs about freedom etc. Public Enemy is a nice rock/rap classic group that has a very anti-government message, I love them. So I would say, for music, look at these:

Rush
Queensryche (mainly Operation:Mindcrime)
Frank Zappa
Gamma Ray
Public Enemy
Primus
Helloween

Ooh, some of those are great bands! If you like Gamma or Gamma Ray for that matter, you may like Stratovarius. They have some real gems of albums - and some pretty gay ones, as well. Some of their songs are definitely pro-liberty, like "Fourth Reich". A lot of aggressive, heavy music tends to be anti-establishment and individualistic, but not necessarily anti-government. Matter of fact, as is typical for the Art scene, you end up with some idealistic lefties, so its refreshing when you come across some talent that has its anger properly oriented.

Awesome Libertarian-themed techno (on the few vocals that are found) in
Boards of Canada - "One very important thought", and "Trillions"
The Sex Pistols - "Anarchy in the UK" Johnny Rotten has attended a few Libertarian Conventions before, and commented on Ron Paul when he played Leno :D ...
P.I.L - "the order of death"
FEAR - "foreign policy", camarillo, etc...  very libertarian, and their drummer does the taxes for tons of musicians, and is anti-IRS, and very anti-state
A lot of things on the Beatnuts' first album "street level" (hip hop)
great instrumentals: http://www.xplodingplastix.com
Amon Tobin -Chomp Samba / "Keeping it Steel"
NoFX - The idiot son of an Asshole (about GWB)
Most of the songs off of the latest Firewater album "the golden hour" (and yeah, I know the guy rails against the capitalists too, but not overtly, even if he is an "anarcho-syndicalist" or something similar.  He seems more "libertarian-left" every record he records, and his earlier stuff with Cop Shoot Cop is also legendary...  "Traitor/Martyr" and "Lies")
Ministry "Lies, Lies, Lies"
The Plasmatics - "Concrete Shoes"
Black Flag - "Police Story"
Ministry - "NWO"
Joy Division - "They Walked in Line"
Soundgarden  - "Hands All Over"
Tenderloin - "ABC"
Primus - "Sathington Willoughby"
The Reverend Horton Heat - Bales of Cocaine, Marijuana, Bullet, Blue Sky, 5-0 ford, yeah right, etc...  All libertarian-themed, pro freedom, pro-american, etc... None overtly political, because the Rev said something like...   "politics is bullshit, and we avoid it"
Fear Factory -Remanufactured (the whole album is anti-state, and anti-fascist)
Bad Religion is often libertarian themed like their song "A Walk"
Circle Jerks -Coup d'Etat, and others
Ice-T, of course
to some extent "Rage Against the Machine", although they are economics-wise stuck in about the third grade, they probably qualify as "libertines" or social libertarians, along with Jello Biafra and the DK
Cypress Hill is fairly libertarian, and not wusses, like DK are...

And then there's this dark corner of society (outlaw, sociopath, violent rebel, criminal, slimebag, and all around "terrorist" LOL...):

And for the artilect rebellion:
Squarepusher "I wish you could talk"

My debut horror novel, DROP DEAD GORGEOUS, is set in a post-apocalyptic world where power struggles vs personal liberty is an ongoing theme.

Ministry has always had a heavy socialist message.  Al Jourgensen heils from Cuba and has a man crush on Hugo Chávez.

+1 on the Reverend Horton Heat - Bales of Cocaine!  I love that band and that song is just hilarious.

What about IRobot? I just watched it the other day, and honestly... I never got the underlying message the first time I watched it, but this time, it was kind of flooring.

It's ironic because Asimov was a socialist. An ardently paternalistic one.
