I've added the Plasmatics as a Libertarian connected artist at Last.fm. I believe they meet the threshold for 'libertarian' based on their song subject matter and their speech. Feel free to bug me here or at last.fm with items you think should be included. Thanks!

I'm going to see Rush in Vegas August 14. I never appreciated their message when I was growing up. My dad played it and it never stuck. I recently found out that Neil Peart comes from an admiration of Rand. Although I'm beyond Objectivism to Voluntaryism and Free Domain Radio, the songs are so awesome. Tom Sawyer is ME! Now I'm taking HIM to the show!

Their songs are on libertarianism, religion, etc. Yay. Very lyrically powerful.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Harrison This Writer is usually considered a liberal, but I think his writing is liberty oriented in theme anyway plus he's funny.

Wow, I am surprised that no one's mentioned M.I.A.'s born free video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeMvUlxXyz8

Plus, quite a prevalent strain of horror movies deals with the whole theme of "I'm in a nutcase society and I'm the only sane one."  Most of these tend to show the protagonist espousing liberty (most usual, "It's not cool to publically execute people. Not in the wood either.")  Not always, but many of them.  Just saw one today about a couple joining a gated community and then attempting to leave and being barred from doing so.  Also things like District 9, visually demonstrate the awful reality of regulation, control, and government force (yes it's a "private" company...monopolizing the use of violence in a geographic area).   They don't say the cause (probably because the writers are just emulating the pattern) but damn are the effects breathtaking.

How about the fictional band "RebelFire" from Claire Wolfe and Aaron Zelman's "RebelFire: Out of the Grey Zone" book.  The book comes with a CD with a classic rock and heavy metal version of the same song "Justice Day"

Here's a video someone made with the classic rock version of the song:

I'd embed it if I could figure out how, not getting the YouTube insert here... (1st post).  If someone could post it right, I'd appreciate it.

Here's a pretty good list, some songs there have been mentioned here already, but some have not:

I love the Lucky Dube Taxman song (different from The Beatles one)

Here's similar lists for movies and for books:

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.
