I don't have as much Lego time as when my boys were younger, but still enjoy getting called in to help with fort designs.
Teen and Preteen have been known to go catapult vs. ballista with lego/soldier setups. I have been informed this is not "playing with legos" - it is engineering and battle strategy...

BTW, "Pick a Brick" is the best thing ever.

They just phased out the "Design your own" where you can use their software to design a kit that has a box with custom art and an instruction manual, but the "Pick a Brick" still exists.

You just tell them what pieces you want (It has a browser for just about every piece they make) and they toss 'em all into a bag and ship them to you.

I was able to get one last order in on the "Design Your Own" sets and built a skeleton army. It's shipped but hasn't arrived yet.

I'll post pics when it shows up.

I secretly played with legos well through high school, but I really dont think I should these days. It is socially unacceptable. I still fondly think about my old legos every now and then.

However, were I single...

I suppose that's why I log many hours into Minecraft each week.

How long did that discussion last?

Strike two.

And to answer your question -

She said "We should start a nickel jar and save up for that one!"

Then I said "I agree."

Bret & Stephanie had a show recently discussing Legos. Bret's a fan too.

See? All the cool people are doing it.

Also, tonight we had to make an extra stop to get eggs on the way home. Dropped by the Wallyworld. It was kinda a crappy night. Battery went poof in the car and had to call AAA, who amazingly showed up in 20 minutes or so. We were at the PetSmart. Mortimer has a date with destiny at the Vet Monday (Getting his balls popped) because he peed on Mel's office chair today. (And because Mr. Kitty spending his whole life with blue balls would prolly be a bummer for him, and as a result, a bummer for us.)

So he be on the fast track to eunuch-ville and we feel pretty bad.

So we picked up a state of the art, massive, close to six foot kitty high rise carpeted thingy with FOUR levels on it to climb. S'frigging crazy. Kitty jungle gym for sad, soon to be sans-balls Mortimer and co.

So we go to leave and car no start. Y U NO START. AAA man comes and jumps us, and we on our way.

Did I mention that we're in the middle of a fucking Michigan blizzard?

Anyway, we stop on the way home to get eggs. Mel comes out with DUH DUH DUH DUH DUH DAAAAAAAAAH!

http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Alien-Mothership-7065

Holy shit son. S'fucking awesome. We have all the cool Alien Conquest bits now. Sure, there's the human army boolsheet, but fuck all that. Who wants a helicopter and a truck? We have the Alien Abduction saucer, which shoots a red tractor beam down on shit, and the Tripod Invader that stomps on shit and collects people for horrible experiments, and we have the Alien Defender and Alien Strikers (Lil speeder vehicles and "Good guys" with a hooman car.)

AND NOW THE MUHFUGGIN MUTHASHIP YO.

Shit be dope. You can hold the middle bit by a handle and spin the giant disk around it. When it spins it be all having a FREEEEEEwowowowowowoeeeeerrrrr sound effect box.

Shit yes.

Lord Dominar Goes Camping - By John Shaw's inner child, Age Six.

The forces were beginning to amass, although this was but a small regiment. They were in good spirits, especially the spirits, and bore no grudge against their master in spite of the cold weather on the fields of Vaasa this day.

And oh yes, there were more to come. The crossbowmen, the swordsmen, the heavy lancers, the royal guard and the standard bearers. Not to mention Peppy Fezzle, The Skeletal Archmage of Some Repute. He could never compete with Lord Dominar's magical prowess but will make for a powerful and trusty general. Perhaps tomorrow. As soon as the asshole from DHL shows up.

Soon... Soon... The battle would begin between Greyface's Forces of Tyrannical Despotism and the righteous vengeance of Lord Hexus Dominar's Army of the Persecuted Dead...

BONES. SHALL. RATTLE.
