I really liked The Hunger Games.
It was worth watching a second time (in the cheapo, second-run theatre, with 100ºF weather outside and no air conditioning in the house.) Jennifer Lawrence was outstanding. I fell in love with her character. People raved so much about her and about Winter's Bone, I watched it, too. Didn't get nearly the same love for Winter's Bone. Good film, but not nearly The Hunger Games, for what I want in a film, anyway. She'll probably be one of the all-time great actresses, though, if she avoids all the stupid shit young actresses seem to do/get involved in--particularly those who were deprived of a childhood. You can tell from her interviews that she's well-grounded and not full of herself, and she likes "film" more than acting itself.
Anyway, like the flick, and it's subtle, and not so subtle, liberty themes. I haven't read the book(s), but I thought they did a good job of making their heroine as truly heroic, in the classic sense, as possible.
