Just saw Duck Soup with a few friends.

Its a Marx brothers flick that has no discernible plot, a few musical numbers in it, and stuff. It wasn't their best work, but still funny.

Now try Horse Feathers.

Priest.

It was a little cheesy and predictable, but since I went into it with very low expectations, I had a lot of fun watching it.

Paying comcast $5 for it instead of $10/person probably helped my satisfaction with the movie, as did having good old-fashioned evil vampires. There have been far too many 'vampires in love' stories out there lately, IMO.

Oh dude son't even get me started on the Fempires.

<<<Vampire snob.

The only cool vampires are the mean ones, In my book. Fangs, biting, turning into bats and wolves and shit. Fempires are utterly fail in most cases. (Most, mind you)

As for Priest, the only part that really bummed me out was when the chick started throwing things into the air and the other fella started running up the things she threw like stairs. That hurt my brain. Otherwise it was fairly fun for me.

The Beast of War, which was a late 80s flick set during the 2nd year of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Fairly enjoyable and utterly prophetic for the incompetence and hatred we have engendered in our own occupation.

Sure!

Saw Clerks the other day after having not seen it for too many years. Great flick. Realistic characters, meaning, etc.

Good flick. I think it should be required watching for the more pragmatic type of libertarian. I actually found myself sympathetic to most of the characters except one, who I really wanted to see shot. 1 Free internets to the one who guesses which. It amazes me that they made a political thriller this intense without taking any particular side.

Bored today, so I rewatched 2 terrible films.

The first was Robocop 3. I didn't remember how campy it was. Its a terribly silly film all around, because of its black humor, bad directing, goofy CGI, and anticapitalist tone.

One thing that struck me as particularly weird was how the film tried to portray the future. It was like that H.G. wrote about the future. He thought that women would "soon" (from the Victorian era) be going to bars, and drinking, and smoking with men, in bonnets. He could see the future, but to the extent the limitations of his day presented to him. In Robocop 3, people talk to each other on these huge CRT monitors for face to face conversations, like we skype on flatscreens today.

The other film is Tank Girl. I read some of the comic book "Tank Girl: The Odyssey" back in the day, and they tried to preserve the feel of a comic book through the film, but failed. It was too silly. Characters changed clothing implausibly
mid scene, you could see the wires sticking out of actors jumping on the set, etc.

They just didn't do a good job on it.

If not Gibson's best - definitely one of his best films!

I saw Heartless. I recommend it. Maybe watch it around Halloween?

I don't recommend watching the trailer for it. Be pleasantly surprised for once in your life.

I finally bit the bullet and sat through a marathon of every single Harry Potter movie, I have never watched it before. I have to say, Harry Potter was actually pretty good. And as much as it bothers me, I wanted Voldemort to win. Dumbledore just seemed like an ass and deserved to die.

I have all the Harry Potter movies except the last two and I periodically re-watch them.  I need my fix now and then.
