Can't tell if that'll be good or not.
It's very good.  Extremely anti-all-governments themed. Totally describes the D vs. R nonsense we have to deal with in the United States.

Just watched it from your recommendation. Im glad I did, although the ending was a bit odd.

I put it in my NetFlix queue. My ISP has me on the "three strikes and you're out" list, the RIAA/MPAA decided that I'm a dangerous terrorist for having previewed one of their chosen spew at home to see if I'd like it rather than paying for a theater ticket.

The latest Robin Hood, and no, it wasn't worth a theater ticket.

But still, no bittorrent for anything but unlicensed anime, at least until Copyright is declared null and void.

We watched it at movie night and I liked it.  I'm not sure I would have used the same political analogy but I don't want to elaborate too much for fear of presenting spoilers.

Just watched Shenandoah on Netflix streaming.  It goes away as a streaming option after today so get crackin' if you want to see it that way.  Definitely has some overt anti-statist themes which is refreshing in an older movie.  But it has the pacing of an older movie too so maybe be playing it while you're doing something else.

Good movie. Could have done without the churchy ending though.

Presently watching Monsters Inc. with the 3-year-old, and want to note that when Boo runs into the group of kids, they're in company-run day-care for children of employees.

Private schooling. Who'd'a thunk it?

I've had this little quest for years now where I look for semi-obscure movies I watched as a child on VHS from the local library and then rewatch them and see if I still like them. Its very difficult because I usually only remember a little bit of the movie but have to somehow search for it, discover its actual name, then find away to watch it. Finally, I have discovered yet another movie that I have been searching for. I finally managed to find the name tonight:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Twelve_Tasks_of_Asterix

Now I have to watch it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w0c7CtDJ4I

 Successes so far have been:

The Hobbit (an easy one to figure out, I have had the books for a long time, I might not be able to find a proper copy of this unless it is on VHS because when it was released on DVD they used an older copy of the movie that is missing half the sounds, I listened to it and all the best bits are gone).
The Dark Crystal (I love this movie, have it on DVD)
The Point (another difficult find, I tracked down a VHS of it at an estate sale once but alas have it no more :( )
The Secret of NIMH (not quite what I remembered, perhaps I need to read the book)
Petes Dragon (ummm)
The Neverending Story (Falcooooor)
The Goonies (Still amazing, WTB)
The Mouse and the Motorcycle (I cant believe I used to watch a movie with a -stuffed- mouse in it)
Labrynth (I'm looking for a girl. What girl? A girl with a power. What power? The power of voodoo. Who do? You do!)
My Neighbor Totoro (I used to have dreams about Totoro, what a sweet film, I watched Ponyo and it was similarly cute. I totally freaked out when I saw Totoro in Toy Story 3)

I still havent found at least two movies. One had giant bulbous people and one normal people. They were all different colors and knocked him around in a room. I may have dreamed this one though :D  Another one has to do with a mother-goose land and people disappearing. I think they find out at the end that drugs are somehow the problem, not sure how that worked out though lol. I also still have to find and watch the old movie "Witches". From what I remember it was rather scary as a kid. I also need to find a movie where at the end one of the main characters is doomed(?) to be a dinosaur for the rest of his life, and over the course of the movie he slowly transforms into this raptor like creature. I think he ends up staying in a museum, standing like a statue during the day and exploring at night.

The Hobbit (sucked)
The Dark Crystal (sucked a lot)
The Point (never heard of it)
The Secret of NIMH  (sucked)
Petes Dragon (seriously sucked)
The Neverending Story  (AWESOME)
The Goonies  (decent)
The Mouse and the Motorcycle (sucked)
Labrynth (really sucked hard cock)
My Neighbor Totoro (never heard of it)

There's my take. Man, you and I have totally different views on movies. Most of those I couldn't stand to watch again. It's all good though...all a matter of opinion. At least you didn't favor Spike Lee flicks.

Well they are obscure movies from my childhood, most people have probably only seen a few, and most dont like any of them.

Totoro is not obscure, if you like Japanese cartoons, "Anime". It's considered an icon of the industry in fact.

I suggest you get onto NetFlix or RedBox and see if you can find "Spirited Away", by the same Miyazaki guy who made Totoro, Naausica and the Valley of the Wind, Laputa: The Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo.

Really, ALL of those films are fantastic. Sure, they're primarily for kids (although you could fool me with the imagery in Mononoke, Sheesh! My daughter doesn't like that one), but they are beautifully made and put American cartoons to freaking SHAME.
