2012.. worst movie ever.

I actually walked out of the theater after paying for Strange Invaders

2012 was awful, but not THAT awful.

I probably wouldn't even watch 2012 if it was on cable and I was tied down with nothing else to watch.

As for Strange Invaders, the 1983 version was awesome!  That reminds me--I haven't seen it in something like 20 years.  Time to see it again.

I saw Inception today.  It was very good...not one of my favorite movies of all time, but it's certainly very good and solidly in the running for best movie of the year.

Great movie, best seen in IMAX, IMHO. The film, a fast moving high action brain-twister, is sort of mash-up of The Matrix and Ocean's Eleven.

Forgive me, I got that wrong. Not "Strange Invaders",

I liked it. You just have to approach these things with the right expectations.

See, I found nothing brain-twister-y about Inception. The movie over explained itself. That and gave away the ending in the first 2 minutes of the film.

Yeah, you could see basically how it ended from about the moment you see the young japanese guy.  However, the story of how he got there is very interesting, not to mention the thoughts on consciousness, dreams, etc.  I'd agree with you, though, that it wasn't necessarily a brain twister.  It did, however, provoke a lot of thought outside the things going on directly in the movie.

Inception is this summer's best film, bar none. Now the question remains will Tron Legacy take the crown for best scifi film of the year? I doubt it, I think Nolan and company earned their spot this year. And Di Caprio has really grown up (I haven't seen his other recent films like Shutter Island or the Aviator) and seems to have some damn good emotion rendering skills there. :)

I've seen Shutter Island. It was OK as a film, but utterly broadcast with the wrong message in commercials and such. I thought it was going to be about a haunted insane asylum. Nope. Not even close.

COMPLETE SPOILER OF WHOLE MOVIE:
You know how when you're watching a movie and you think, well, all these events have to be explained somehow, maybe the main character is crazy and the entire movie is just his crazy thoughts? That is exactly what this movie was. :|

The book was a lot better.  I try to avoid saying that because it sounds snobby, but it really was.  Denis Lehane is a gifted writer.  He did Mystic River, too - which I seem to remember Clint directed and Sean Penn acted in, won a lot of awards.

This coffee is fuckin' weak.  I'll need to have a stern word with the help.

Burning in a TV while out of the room and doing something else?

That's not really fair of me, because I have avoided it, myself, but I had to say it.

i watched paranormal activity a few months back and it freaked me out....i live alone and sleep upstairs and i could not go to bed without keeping some lights on for about a week.  i swear i could hear something coming up my stairs at night.  im a grown man too and movies usually dont bother me but that one messed with me.  even now i have to stop myself from thinking about it at night.  some people say that movie is stupid but to me it was messed up.
