Watched the new Alice in Wonderland... didn't like it :(

It was easily predictable, but the characters and the acting jobs were spectacular.

yeah I really liked the girl who played Alice.  It was just overly Disney-y, with all the references to the cartoon.

Also the gal (forget her name) who played the White Queen with her suppression of craziness& evil and her exaggerated "good" if you know what I mean.

Riding The Rails

Pretty good.. about teens who were tossed out during the Great Depression, became hobo's. Sure hope this next recession ain't as bad.. my kids are only 3 & 9.. would hate to have to kick them out earlier than planned.

My dad did that. He wasn't tossed out, but ran away from the farm at 15, after his father nearly beat him to death.

There's a woman in my writing group who road the rails as a teen in the Thirties. She has some tales! Some of them were featured on a PBS documentary about the era.

Awesome that you know some people who did, beating.. not awesome.

As far as I know no one in my family did, but the movie does cover a little bit of the CCC "Work Camps" of that era which some of my relatives did work in. My Grandpa worked in a CCC lumber camp, which is a park now. The buildings they built are still in use.

I watched "The Men Who Stare at Goats" the other night. Not nearly so bad as I'd been led to believe, and  much better than I expected. It rendered a laugh or two out of me.

Just finished Avatar.... I really liked it-though I didn't think it lived up to the hype... and it was really freaking long.  But good movie.

You should have watched it in 3D at the theatre.

It's nothing more than Dances With Wolves with blue people at home on DVD.

I was blown away at the theater though.

I'm finishing up Iron Man 2.  I've got a couple of bones to pick.

1. Why didn't they actually do ANYTHING with Samuel Jackson.
2. Why didn't they aim for the Russian dudes head, he didn't even put his helmet up. A single explosion would have taken him out with shrapnel.
3. The scene in the trailer where the helmet gets kissed never appeared (could have just been the version I watched though).
