Are you talking about this film?  If so, it sounds........weird.

First chapter of the novella pretty much sets it up as a freakishly horrible post-apocalyptic world. BTW, I saw this as a thread title on IMDB.com and thought it was infinitely appropriate as a modern re-title:

A portion of Inglorious Bastards. Fell asleep. It appeared Tarantino made a stroke job for the Hollywood Jews for what ever reason. I found it insulting.

The Invention of Lying.

A good family film with a strong atheist undercurrent.

Really? Good to know, I thought the movie looked like fun, but wasn't sure it would be okay for game & movie night with the kids. Will move this onto my list of choices for Saturday night.

Oh, but I forgot the do also talk about sex...so if your kids dont mind that...

I just saw 2012 at the $1 theater, and it was the best dollar I have spent in a LONG time.  Some people like it, some hate it.  I thought it had the best special effects of any  movie I've seen yet.  And unlike most blockbuster special effects films, it had a decent plot.  It had some nice symbolism, like when the Sistene Chapel cracks and God's hand separates from man, and the Chinese play a huge part.  Also the wealthy elite are saved at the expense of the people, which is likely how it would go down.  I thoroughly enjoyed it, although it could have been edited a bit in the middle.

Recently finished Birth of a Nation. Its a strange movie in that the KKK are the good guys, and the people enforcing reconstruction the bad.

Taking into account that the film was made in 1915, only 50 years after the end of the civil war, and the fact that D.W. Griffith had a father who served in the confederate army, and your perspective changes. This was a half century before civil rights, and when looked at that way, its oddly balanced. To them, the civil war was a fresher memory then WWII is to us now.

Also, blackface never stops being funny.

Letting Go of God

Really good. In a fun little ironic twist, I was cutting & marking pieces for my daughter's Easter dress at the time. (Let's just say she & I have different views, and that I take her to church because it's good for her to come to her life views on her own.)

Island of Death.  A couple on a murdering spree goes to a greek island and "cleanses" it of perverts.  Lots of sex and nudity and some violence.  I thought it was pretty good.
