District 9.
Loved it. It turns the whole alien invasion story on its head. I actually thought them leaving some stuff out made it more interesting. The film was done in a documentary/ investigatory journalist style, which leads me to believe that not all the answers were known by the person doing the documentary and they were being uncovered as the movie progressed.
Honestly, District 9 did not impress me at all. The whole premise of the movie didn't make sense and they didn't even try to explain it. Why would these aliens that are clearly physically and technologically superior to humans allow themselves to be treated like shit for 20+ years? Nobody knows. I certainly don't.
The movie makes you wonder just like real life does, and makes you fill in the blanks with your own thoughts. For instance, why do
people allow themselves to be treated like shit their entire lives? It makes you think 'if they only knew the power they had'.
Also, beating me over the head with the South Africa thing and concentration camp references isn't necessary. I can figure that out on my own, thank you very much.
Yeah but you are you. The general public likely does not know much about apartheid.
IMO, a must see.
