Out on a Limb

Very long.  Has hippy spiritual stuff and UFO stuff in it...Not surprising since it's a Shirley MacLaine movie.

Funny how perspectives change over time.

Yeah, I always like going back and looking at who won the academy awards the same year as a film I enjoyed.  At the 14th annual academy awards it went to How Green Was My Valley and not Citizen Kane or The Maltese Falcon (Two of the greatest films created IMO).  That seems to always happen though.  You can't trust academics to make the right decisions because they wont be the right decisions for you.

Star Trek. The New Movie.

The plot? Meh. The whole time travelling thing is fucking worn out already.

I just saw the new Star Trek tonight.

I agree joe.... meh.... the time travel thing IS worn out.
It's a sign of lazy writing, sci-fi 'duct tape'

The movie had lots of fancy special effects, but I found it disappointing to the star trek tradition.
It's just not the same without Gene Roddenberry.

The shameless plug for 'Nokia' was an insult.

Also the cinematography was terrible, the camera was all over the place, never stood still. I felt kinda dizzy afterwards.

American Gangster, with an excellent performance by Washington.

I'm seeing it tonight.  I agree with you about time travel.  It can be well done, but most of the time it's a crutch and ruins the plot :(

Star Trek. The New Movie.

The plot? Meh. The whole time travelling thing is fucking worn out already.

That's what made the movie good.  Creating the new timeline was the best thing about it.  Hell, I think that it is one of the few time travel stories where they actually DON'T run around actually trying to correct the timeline, or have to go back in time to stop an event  I think that that is one of the reasons why time travel thing is overdone.  They didn't try it here.  They actually left to modified timeline where it was.  So everything can be new now.

There were a few things that I didn't like about it, but it was a very fun movie.  There was even a reference to admiral archer and his beagle.

Yeah, they really needed the time travel thing to explain all the stuff that goes on in this movie which makes no sense given the context of the original Star Trek.  That said, I thought it was pretty well done.  They didn't overdo the whole time travel thing like Lost and Heroes.
