Or a differing perspective.

Yeah, absolutely. From smoking pot. And probably from munching teh shrooms.

Actually, I've never had shrooms, and I've had these views most of my life (except that year I was an atheist)...way before I smoked the herb chronix.

I'm just saying that if "Perception is reality" then JFK would never have been hit by a bullet.

Does Ayn believe that "perception is reality", or where did you draw that from?

No, Ayn Rand was an Objectivist...meaning she believed that reality was completely and entirely objective in nature. My belief is that perception is reality...and that's what John was responding to.

This. Rand was an Aristotelian from the metaphysics angle. A is A.

I just thought of something wonderful...Ayn Rand starring in a music video version of Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with her dancing seductively and performing sexual poses.

I loved the book; the only one I've re-read more is The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.  I admit I skimmed Galt's speech though.

You don't owe her anything. She's dead, remember? Dead people objectively cannot receive payment for services. They're dead.

I was under the impression Objectivism was simply basically the virtue of being selfish in everything. When you say objective in nature, what does that refer to?

You know...objective. That everything we see, hear, touch, smell, and taste around us is real. Finite. That when we die, we die and don't cross over into a non-physical realm. I don't believe that to be the case. Objectivists and Ayn Rand, and her philosophy - do.

By owe I mean acknowledge the contributions of.

I owe John Bonham a lot, too.

Other people I owe who are dead:

Aristotle
Tom Jefferson
Sam Adams
Mark Scott
John Ford
Adam Smith
Biggie Smalls Represent*
Snake Plissken
James Kirk
Barry Goldwater
John Wilkes Booth
Gus Fucking Grissom
The Duke

And many many more.
