If you really meant to do this as a validation pic, why not actually look at the camera? I asked her via email to use the same sign and take another one indoors. Somehow, I don't think it's gonna happen.

Probably because they recklessly used the clone stamp tool to obliterate whatever was originally on the posterboard. Amateurs.

Why would she have made the letters line up neatly and perfectly with each other yet so horribly offset with the posterboard itself?

I've always had an interest in image based searches in databases since college.

I right-clicked the image and got the dimension of the picture (190 by 350 pixels). I then went to images.google.com and placed in the dimensions for the search (I typed in "190x350" in the search text). Voila, the first image in the result is the orginal.

So I guess the fakers will now have to resize the image to get through this simple check. Hopefully this will make it harder for the non-talented hacks to come up with fake pictures.
