I heard the term "peaceful terrorism" used the other day in a throwaway manner and it really got me thinking.
I was thinking how adopting the term in the liberty movement would be really interesting. The term Terrorism in this context means "putting terror into the hearts of politicians and statists" - but doing it peacefully is such a shocking juxtaposition.
On another level, it subverts one very powerful tool of oppression - the idea that the government is protecting us from terrorists and that they know what terrorists are and that the people are merely victims in need of protection. Government being terrorised is such a strange idea - sure only citizens can be terrorised, right? Perhaps only citizens can be terrorised with violence, but it takes ideas to terrorise governments.
On another level it makes fun of the idea that some people consider libertarian ideas 'unpatriotic' and 'aiding the terrorists'. We own the term, then invert it.
I can see how people might knee jerk think its a bad idea but the more I think about it the more powerful the idea of "Peaceful Terrorism" seems.
