What makes it even sadder is that Ian won't pay the filing charge to appeal it. So nothing has been accomplished. Even though it should be an easy win because the judge is obviously treating him unfairly.

I think only the people paying the price can truly decide whether it's worth it.  I don't think I would pay 12 days in jail to clog the system.  It simply came down to a choice between paying the fine or jail and jail was the lesser evil.  I can't speak for the others, of course.

I guess it's not that out of the ordinary for Burke to be so blatantly arbitrary and vindictive, but I thought it was pretty interesting that he said flat out that the plaintiff failed to prove guilt and then pronounced us guilty anyway.

So are you  going to appeal it, or are you going to take Ian's route (not even sure what he's doing)?

Seems a shit situation no matter what. If you appeal it, you end up paying tons of cash to file for it and time spent. If you dont appeal it, you pay tons of cash directly to them. They want your cash.......... plain and simple.

Seems the only way to screw them out of cash is by taking the jail time, which sucks too because its lost income for you while youre inside, but at least they arent getting it

I would say by spending the money to appeal you're actually helping to clog the system up even more.  I think it's a worthwhile investment if it clogs up the system and keeps you out of jail.  Yes, they got their money, but it would also make them think twice about doing screwy shit again because they know you'll clog up the system with appeals.

For fun sometime you can try and find out how many times John Babiarz sued the Town of Grafton and/or the State of NH. Hint: it's a lot, and several of the cases went all the way to the NH Supreme Court, and some of the cases he won, and the government did indeed change its behavior on the issue in question.

And the courts were well and truly gummed up, for days on end, not minutes on end like this case.
And he didn't have to spend a single minute in jail.

But hey, you gotta do what you think is most effective...

Any numbers on how many acts of oppression his hard work prevented vs. how many times he personally shit all over a weenie roast or extorted people by threat of shitting on their weenie roast?  That video is all I know of that guy and I hope I never meet him.  He's mean and dishonest, that bit about "It's a class X" fire hazard in a tone that strongly suggests "class X" is something other than the lowest possible fire hazard makes him a big fat liar whose personal communication can not be trusted as an attempt to honestly communicate.
