I beat an airplane speeding ticket today......total shit-luck

....i had a court appearance in candia, nh dist court @ 930 this am...
i called at 810, hoping they'd be closed.....we are in the middle of a fucking blizzard, after all.
nope
they're open for business.
i show up & there are, no lies, 8 state poli cars in the lot ( 1 s.o.b left his running the whole time i was there....@45 min)
the lobby is swarming, so i think i'm fucked....i overhear some talk.....at least 2 cops are air-jockeys......double fucked.
most offenders are meeting in side rooms to dispense w/ their cases.
me & 2 others get called into court.
prosecutor does a side-bar w/ guy #1
"officer so-n-so is on vacation & this case has been continued.....you can either settle this today, & i'll drop the fine one level, or you can come back.''
''geez, no one told me this was continued.'' (EXACTLY) dumb kid says he'll come back, & leaves
girl #2 says she wants case heard today. smart girl.
pros. comes to me & gives me the same spiel.
i say,

''why wasn't i notified? i drove here in extremeley perilous conditions to have this hearing today.''
''well, the officer isn't here.......''
''why am i required to notify the court AND THE PROSECUTION no sooner than 10 days before trial, if i want a continuance, but the state doesn't?''

''can i see the judge?''
''sit down.''........this deal WON'T be offered later!''   (cunt's been watchin' hill street blues reruns)
''motion to dismiss.'', i shoot back as i take my seat
judge immediately notes that receipts of registered mail have NOT been filed w/ paperwork.
officer vacationland got lazy & the prosecution obviously didn't dot their ''i''s

Congratulations, however, I wish for the purpose of the dialogue that once in awhile you would follow some standard sentence structure. I know you can, and it made it hard to understand what was happening in your story the way you wrote it.
