Title: I'm tired of repeating myself...
Post by: The Muslim Agorist on August 25, 2007, 06:52:04 PM
You know… I come here to talk about liberty, but spend 90% of my time correcting utter falsehoods people spread about Islam. It’s getting redundant, and I’m tired of repeating myself. So, this post is going to link to all my previous explanations, and I’m going to link to it in my signature. From now on when people direct their accusations toward me, I’m just going to direct them to what I’ve already said.

General rebuttal:
The standard grievances (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=10461.msg235741#msg235741).

Verses of the Sword:
Quran 9:5 Slay the pagans wherever you find them (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=15151.msg279477#msg279477)
Quran 9:29 Fight those who disbelieve… until they pay the Jizya (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=15151.msg280106#msg280106)

Non Muslim Tax:
What is the jizya (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=13700.msg269614#msg269614)?
How do I respond to the wiki article (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=13700.msg269685#msg269685),
and what’s the scholars (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=13700.msg269753#msg269753) behind it.

Apostasy:
Does Islam prescribe the  Death Penalty (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=16110.msg296060#msg296060) for apostasy?

The Child Bride:
Who was Aisha (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=14653.msg268966#msg268966)?

Primitive Desert Religion:
I’ve explained Islam’s contribution to the  enlightenment (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=13700.msg269628#msg269628) specifically the idea of a separation of faith and politics. I’ve explained how Wahhabi (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=13700.msg269591#msg269591) ideology dominated politics (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=13700.msg269600#msg269600) in the Middle East, influenced by British colonialism.

The Battle of the Trench:
Did Muhammad really execute 200 Jews (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=22171.msg404490#msg404490)?

Reason and Faith:
I’ve explained the reasons (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=10461.msg236296#msg236296) I believe in a couple (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=15151.msg277147#msg277147) of places, and defined faith (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=11164.msg235353#msg235353) from the Arabic conception to distinguish from Blind Faith.

Zeitgeist:
This movie is a joke (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=15636.msg283950#msg283950).

I am exhausted… fed up… and finished repeating myself.
I’ll add to this post over time, so it remains a comprehensive list. And I'm happy to answer sincere question to the best of my ability, but if you’re making claims and your only source of information is Daniel Pipes and Jihadwatch.com than you’re not really interested in the Truth anyway. You’re just looking for talking points to support your own bias, and you’re not worth my time.

But I remain, your faithful Muslim Nonarchist (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=15103.msg272558#msg272558)

Okay: you're failed to provide proof. Absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

This only has to do with being Muslim, but it pissed me off so I need to share.

There's a girl that works out at the perfume kiosk in my mall, she is from Iran.  I mentioned her to my mother, because she wanted to know who I was talking to before she had called (I was laughing).  My mother starts freaking out and telling me that she's a terrorist.  Man, I hate people.

What the quasi-secualar-humanist wing of the modern liberal Muslim movement claims is bullshit.  I've read the same Quran he has.  It is no less bloody than the bible and its bears that eat children at the behest of god.

The right Interpretation counts for nothing with religion. In fact it’s difficult to prove you have the right interpretation. Take Christianity; there are thousands of sects around the world and none of them can seem to agree on a single interpretation of the bible.

In reality it doesn't matter if MuslimNonarchist has the right interpretation, Muslims around the world will go on believing the flawed version and they’ll carry out both acts of kindness and brutality because of it.

Which goes to show that people should not delegate their understanding of morality to a greater being which cannot (or at least does not) coerce them to do so and does not even speak directly to them. They choose to abandon reason and submit blindly to something else.
Doesn't Islam (or some other prominent term) mean "submit" or "submission" (to God)? What kind of submission is asked for?

Of course, MuslimNonarchist came to his own conclusions about morality and found an interpretation of the Quran that agreed with it, so he is hardly guilty of attempting to abdicate his responsibility to a greater being.
Some people however (no idea if this is a majority or not), will instead blindly follow their religious leaders.
And others will use it to justify their murderous aims (ie. usually said leaders, and they too came to their own conclusions about morality and found an interpretation that agreed with it). They are petty murderers and they will attempt to blame God for it.

Quote from: Richard_III
Correct. Muslim is a typical religious fanatic. Lots of his posts are based on all sorts of outrageous mysticism. He's been duped into thinking he is on the right track, but he is oh so wrong. He is highly delusional.

I tend to agree he his a very mystic person. What I cannot know for a fact is whether or not he is actually justified in being the mystic person he is.
However, from a logical standpoint, there is every reason to not subscribe to any God or interpretation of the "holy" books. And because of that, it will take overwhelming evidence to convince me of the contrary, whereas I can easily be convinced of many things without much (if any) direct proof.

It would seem (http://bbs.freetalklive.com/index.php?topic=15782.0) the Abrahamic God (if my understanding is correct) cannot exist because of logical contradictions. Some other God might, but again, logic leads me to a lack of belief and to hold the position that such a conscious, independent, primordial supreme being is highly unlikely to exist (because there are so many possible alternative explanations with equal value and no evidence to favor any of them).

It's amazing that, in the pre-Jesus age, the ancient Greeks were producing deep thinkers such as Lucretius, Pythagoras, and Aristotle, and great dramatists such as Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Euripides, and Sophocles. Meanwhile, those in ancient Palestine were composing the stilted text of the Bible.

Yeah, we had the ancient Greeks then we had Jesus, a step down if you ask me. I mean people make out Jesus is some great moral teacher, yet if you put him next some of philosophers of the ancient world, they'd eat him alive. In fact, he wasn’t even a thinker, never mind a great thinker. He was more of a plagiarist. Just take "Love thy neighbour as thyself", that actually comes from Leviticus 19:18 and not the uncreative mind of Jesus. Even his most famous rule, the golden one, was from the Jewish Talmud, specifically Sabbath 31.1.

Don't get me wrong, I'll fully admit to being one of the atheists that'll give you a hard time over religion (in general, not yours in particular), but that doesn't mean I care all that much, as long as your religion is your own, I have no problems with you as an individual.

'Cause that's what this all comes down to in the end: Individuality.

Random thought...

Wouldn't it be funny to go to PTO meetings at random religious schools?  I mean, just to snark and pretend like it was an outrage that our children are being taught <insertsomethingstupidlikeintelligentdesignhere>.  I don't know...it just came to me.

I for one look forward to reading all of this, thank you for representing your religion here on the forums. I hope you take comfort in knowing that by correcting peoples impressions of Islam, you are in fact doing more to promote freedom for your Religion then any other chatter we could have.

As for most of the Atheist/Bastards on the forums, I just want you to know that they don't represent my faith. I was raised an Atheist, and feel I know a lot more about it then they do. Some people read Books from the Respected Atheist Professor Richard Dawkins and they get extreme. Yes, it is true that some of them join forums and plot against nations solely based on their religion, but they don't represent mainstream Atheism and I will say, they don't understand the scientific texts that are the heart of my faith and have brought light to the world. :)

Ahhhh yes. I will have a little time now to get back to this one, and revisit this board once again to make good on some promises to thrash a certain muslim apologist. Stand by.

Please prove god exists.

kthxbi.
If there is no higher power, Humans either would not exist or we would have had control of chaos by now. We know how and yet we can't.
I have to try and prove there is a higher power by my point of view. I am a general fabricate.(mostly steel and aluminium.)
If I had vast powers to create, and what I wanted was Utopia I happen to know I couldn't do it. Because if I created utopia it would only be mine no one Else's.
We don't know who or what "God" is but we know one of the tools he has to work with.
Evolution.
How the fuck could you create a heaven where you wouldn't have to work your ass off?
I would take a chunk of land and fill it with people who want to make things better through their own effort for their own benefit.
My idea anyway, Some might fill "heaven" with self righteous zealots.
Some might fill heaven with people who like to unaccountably boss others around.
Some might fill heaven with people who kill others to appease "God".
I have another word for those places
But something important to remember is "eternal" life of some sort is in the cards soon, for better or worse (cloning,  personality download, body regeneration, who knows)
When that happens will we have heaven or hell?
God, higher power, FSM, Allah, Zeus, we better start believing in something more important than just ourselves or we are definitely damned.

Israeli Gov:
I use security personnel who have proved they respect and sympathise with the peaceful part of Palestine to quietly scope out candidates for Muslim employees. Once hired they go through normal police training, except some of the Jewish "trainees" are psych- ops. Cadets that seem they are anti- Hamas are told they washed out, they also get a opportunity to get a small business loan as appreciation for their time. My Jewish sympathisers make sure they are armed and whatever business they start has every chance to be successful.
The pro government ones are on regular patrols and treated well, but watched carefully.

That was the most incomprehensible piece of crap I've ever attempted to read.

As a writer who has written innumerable pieces of incomprehensible crap here, I am deeply indebted.
