That movie brought out a lot of very complicated emotions for me.

But one thing I clearly want to point out is that I'm not a sucker for any fool with a cause - if it was one of them Workers Rights or PETA nuts in a (free market) jail for an actual crime (i.e. not resistance against a government), then I'd be completely indifferent to the motherfucker starving to death.

Man...  Some scenes really stay with you for a while, and sometimes their emotions just resurface...  Like with today's arrests...

How can you live with yourself if "your job" requires manhandling freedom activists, carrying them off to jail face down, arms pulled behind the back...

What would your suggestion be for handling an uncoperative detainee?

It's not a question of specific methods, it's a broader matter of the immorality of their position.  Don't work for an institution that oppresses political activists.  Don't follow orders that contradict the Non-Aggression Principle.  For fuck's sake - be a human being!

More specifically to this thread, consider the life of Bobby Sands.  He was bullied around by the imperial thugs all his life!  He was thrown into prison for 5 years and then 14 more years for handgun possession, which should be his natural right (never mind that there's a good chance the guns weren't even his)!  In prison he was humiliated, forced to wear what essentially was a clown suit, and go through all sorts of other rituals of submission.  Etc, etc, etc...   If I'm ever in a similar situation, I can only wish I had the courage, the strength, and the dignity to do what Bobby Sands has done.  There are things even worse than death that one should strive to save oneself from!  If you work for an institution like that Maze prison, then you are something less than a human being!  By violating the rights of others you forfeit your own!

And unfortunately the responsibility doesn't end there.  Even if 99% of people in a society refuse to be prison guards, that still leaves more than enough as long as those 99% still pay their taxes and otherwise support the state.  The real evil of any tyrannical system comes from people like I was five years ago, people who create the ideas and the innovations that keep a society economically competitive, the people who create the taxable wealth. An entrepreneur who ran a successful baby carriage factory and paid millions to the Nazi government in taxes is infinitely more responsible for the Holocaust than a gas chamber operator who personally pressed the button to kill 10,000 human beings!  Dumb thugs are a dime a dozen!  :x

The John Galt Solution IS the only solution!

The mobocracy looter minions must be allowed and even encouraged to consume all that is around them...then each other...and then finally themselves...

let them rot in hell

enjoy!

The John Galt Solution IS the only solution!

The "John Galt Solution" has taken me from being en route to a six-figure income by age 25 to being a broke morbid loser living in a trailer park.  I'm not sure how much longer I can take this...  :cry:
