I want to learn more about this - Denis, what's left over after the vaporizing?   How would you compare it to smoking?

Lightly-toasted brownish vegetable matter. No ashes, much easier to clean than burnt.

Breathe in warm-to-hot, fragrant air. Breathe out what looks and smells like -- nothing, basically.

A fair amount, to be honest.
Less now that I know how to fill it & don't spill as much.
1 fill lasts a solid 45 minutes. Once it heats up it's minimal, a regulator kicks fuel in as needed. Probably 10 fills in a can.

Without the butane can it's very very portable -- size of a glasses case. And no batteries bullshit. Gas means the temperature is always perfect. Much nicer in fact to use than even the much larger plug-in "volcano" types.

I don't know about the Iolite (I like the Extreme and the Verbalaire) but I would point out to people who don't use them that you feel like you get more "high" off smoking, probably because of CO, CO2, and/or resulting compounds you get that way, in addition to just vaporizing.  At first, you might not even feel like it's "working."  Most smokers I've introduced, however, say after a few minutes that they "get it," once they realize what the differences are.  Some people claim your bud goes farther (perhaps, specifically with the Herbalaire) but I wouldn't know, because I don't smoke.

When choosing a vaporizer, I would avoid any brand that doesn't let you calibrate the heat level (temp knob, etc.)  This is because at different altitudes and different humidities, you may want to adjust slightly.  Additionally, if the cure of the bud varies, you may wish to vary the temp.  Frankly, I've seen cheap vapes that basically burn the material, instead of removing the essentials from it.  A good vape temp is around 375 F, and will vary per above parameters.  If you get smoke, you're too hot.  If it doesn't turn brown, you're not hot enough.

It definitely does. As I noted above, combustion destroys a good third of the active ingredients, which are not destroyed by vaporizing.

To clarify, I used to belong to a caregiver's collective (though I've never been a caregiver--I joined to learn about growing), and had happened to purchase a few different vapes, which I demonstrated for a medium-sized group at a meeting.

The iolite tastes a little weird. Also, the chamber isn't very large. I'd have to fill it like three times to get high.
