One of the two candidates in question is Jim Forsythe.
He learned about Ron Paul at the first annual NH Liberty Forum, when he saw Dr. Paul speak.
Jim lives in NH and is actively involved with lots of pro-freedom work here; he was one of the O:LFoD coordinators, he organized NH Parents for Educational Freedom (a homeschooling citizens-lobby group), and a zillion other things I can't keep track of.
In a way it sucks that he's running, because a lot of us were hoping he'd run for NH State House -- he'd be virtually guaranteed a win.
But he needs to do what his moral sense tells him is necessary, and he says he cannot stand by while the US military remains engaged in unconstitutional non-wars. So he's running for congress.
So... right now there are a grand total of two people running for US congress in 2008 who are endorsed by Ron Paul, and one of them is in NH. Sweet.
I still have mixed feelings about Jim's run. I want him to win, of course, and I've pledged the $ to help him do so. But I REALLY want him in the NH State House, where instead of being one of maybe 2-3 libertarian voices, he'd be one of 2-3 DOZEN. Even if he wins... I don't see it actually changing anything. And I honestly, seriously think he
would make a real, measurable difference in the NH State House.
That said,... I'd support Jim even if he ran for dog catcher, president, or UN secretary-general. He's just a damn good man. Period.
