Google to go protest SOPA
« on: January 17, 2012, 11:25:04 PM »

I've been reading about how companies like google are going to protest SOPA tomorrow. Yippee, it seems like there are some quasi free market business leaders after all! Whats that? Oh, well, yes......some of the founders of google did support Obamacare, but come on, this is different, right?

If government is good enough to control the healthcare industry, why not have it heavily regulate the internet? After all, it will be their boy Obama who will be in charge of enforcing these new rules.

Hypocritical, indeed.

Because, they aren't doctors. They dont give a fuck about the government interfering with someones business.......as long as its not theirs of course.

They don't think that way.

These people don't see freedom as a package deal. They want their special interests given priority, and fuck everyone else.

the founder of wiki and some of the founders of google did support Obamacare

Surely you're not talking about Jimmy Wales...

Dude is a hardcore Objectivist and would have NEVER supported Obamacare unless he was actively trying to bring down the system.

Hmmmm. I seem to remember a video where he said something very similar to, "The market works so well in areas like the internet, but not in healthcare. Thats why I support Obamacare."

I'd like to see that clip because Imma stop donating to Wiki if it's true that Jimmy Wales supports Obamacare.

I find it very hard to believe though. Maybe it was another member of the foundation?

Shit! Fuck! Shit! Fuck! Fuck! Shit!

I totally fucked this one up. It wasn't wikipedia founder.....it was the criagslist founder!

After you questioned this, I searched for the actual video and couldn't find it. That was when I realized I got the wrong guy.

Very sorry to the wikipedia guy! I hate it when people do this sort of thing. I really should have reviewed this prior to my posting. I will modify my original post so no one else gets bad info.

Here is the link of craigslist founder saying he's kind of "libertarian" but supports healthcare regulation/redistribution.

I smell an ulterior motive here.

The petition is asking for your first name, last name, email, zip code.... Google plus and gmail etc constantly nag you for you cell phone number.

Looks to me like the googles wants to tie more data to your google cookie.

I agree.

Although they might actually care a bit about this bill, their main focus in getting more info and they see this as a perfect opportunity.

I wouldn't bother with it though, because the PTB want this, not for protecting anyone from big scary ONLINE PIRACY, but to have more control over everything in general. If it doesn't pass this time, they'll just drag it out again later on and get it passed.
