Geither is the poster boy for Great Stupidity causing Great Evil.... but even at that, he wasn't as bad in this interview as the headline makes out. Those were HARSH questions. And frankly his answers were not that weaselly. He is wrong about fundamentals and causes, but sincere in his wrong beliefs.

Quote
That the Wall Street Journal would even pressure the Treasury Secretary on serious issues like the Audit the Fed movement may be surprising, given that the Wall Street Journal is a mouthpiece of the financial oligarchy and that editor Paul Gigot, like Geithner himself, is a Bilderberg attendee. Needless to say, this was not a typical inside-the-beltway interview. Instead, questions were submitted and voted on by the Digg community, with the top 10 questions being posed to Mr. Geithner.

Oh gawd.

I think Bernanke is worse.  I hear he just claimed "economic recovery is just around the corner."

What a douche the financial juggling game is coming to an end isn't it.  What happens when people no longer trust the money?  Will people finally understand how inflation works?  Are we pounded back to the dark ages bartering for everything?   When the Roman Empire fell people wouldn't even exchange gold for goods and services.  The dark ages were literally a work for food society.   Are we headed down that very same path?

Yeh pretty much all politicians and media over here are singing the same song, and they are saying its because of government regulations that we are doing so well. Whats worse is almost everyone believes them.

"I'm sure people understand that you want to keep politics out of monetary policy."

Yeah...that's why you've got the government printing linen, minting coinage, and nominating your ass.  Tell you what TIMMAIY!, back away from the treasury and let the big boys and girls figure out what money is and what to do with it.

He is right, kinda.
The stock market will go up for a few months at least, thanks to a multi-trillion-dollar sugar high.
But, ohhhhh... the hangover is gonna suuuuuuuck

Would you like to place a gentlemanly wager on that claim?

At least Bernanke can think for himself, Geithner is a fucking muppet.  I don't know who's telling him what to do and say, but he's not pulling his own strings.

My opinion on Geithner three weeks before the market bottom of March 6th.

market bottom of March 6th.
"local minimum"

Would you like to place a gentlemanly wager on that claim?
We've discussed this before, BJ. I have placed a wager on my market predictions, to the tune of my children's college education and my own retirement.
