Fucked Up Thing About Films, and TV
« on: May 24, 2012, 06:31:31 PM »

Ever notice how in films, its still rare to see a black, and white person kiss, without it being a part of the story?

Why do they still practice miscegenation in film?
The fuck is up with that?

Just last week I was watching American Ninja 4, and the two male protagonists (one black, one white) were introduced to the female protagonist. I noticed that in the most awkward way possible the foil interrupts the black guy to get the white guy to talk to the woman.

I swear, we'll know the last remnant of our cultural awkwardness with this is gone when two men kiss on TV without it being part of the plot.

In some ways, it's gone backward.  Remember Omega Man?  I don't think him being white and her being black had anything to do with the plot.  It was just as if there wasn't anything wrong with it.

Omega Man? Haha. You're showing your age with that one. I had to look it up. I'm still in my 20's.

In most of the porn I watch, all 10 black guys usually kiss the blond. Except at the end there. I can't see it having much to do with the story. Yeah porn.

Yeah, well, it's not like I saw it in the theatre, anyway.  Back in the 70's they used to have the "3:30 movie" on LA's ABC affiliate.  They butchered movies to 1 1/2 hours with commercials before the 5pm news.  But to the point, I must have watched it half a dozen times in that context alone.

How about Dr Who? 2005, Rose Tyler and Mickey Smith?

Dont forget about Tom & Helen Willis (Lenny Kravitz's mom) on The Jeffersons in the 70's.

Of course they were being forced to kiss by insane psychic people so there was an out if it became too controversial.

Makes me sad that I know that.

The Romans who had accumulated something in their blood from the food that gave them telekinetic powers that they used to manipulate people like puppets, especially the poor midget dood who didn't have any powers. Fortunately, Bones figured it out and injected Capn Kirk with three times as much as their most powerful dood and he kicked ass.

It seems to me that for that lately I've seen more male-male and female-female kissing on TV and movies than I've seen interracial.

But that could be due to the kind of stuff I watch.   Lots of sci-fi (Torchwood, Lost Girl).

The TV Show "Eureka" has an interracial couple, for those who are counting.

Thus teaching the principle that mind control is good when used for the right reasons. ;-)

Who gives a fuck?

Exactly!

In a lot of ways, TV is and always has been more conservative in what they show than movies.

No visible social progress. Funny because this is made by a bunch of liberals, but then again, they're pandering to Midwesterners.
