*shrug* it was bound to happen sooner or later

I quit once. Actually, I quit about twelve times. Got pretty good at it. Finally, it took and I've been smoke-free now for 35 years.
I have a sister-in-law who used to be pretty good at quitting. She'd give them up for a few days, then pick them up again. Finally, in her thirties, she got lung cancer and lost a lung and a half. She survived, and is now in her sixties. She says that the best cure for smoking is to lose a lung and a half.

I've found with my own quit attempts that nicotine supplements didn't really 'take the edge off' as much as kept the addiction alive.
Quit 14 months ago today without nicotine supplements.

Use two patches.

My stepdad was told by the doctors that he would lose his legs if he didn't quit smoking. I think he finished the pack he was on that day and never touched another one. Forgive me exact details of his condition, etc. I was about 12 at the time.
My mom quit with him and took up the habit after he died. She then smoked for about another 10 years then quit again.
I've never been a smoker. I tried cigarettes a few times. They tasted REALLY REALLY awful! I finally accepted that I would be the worst kind of wannabe to keep trying something that was not the least bit enjoyable and had terrible side affects (like smelling and tasting like an ashtray).
This may sound crass, but the problem isn't that quitting is difficult, the problem is that you don't want to quit bad enough.
-
I disagree. Quitting IS difficult, and was the hardest thing I've ever done. But then, I suppose I started smoking at birth, from second hand smoke emitted by both of my parents, who puffed all day long in the house and car.

Try switching your source of intake of nicotiene first, then and only then try to ease down on that. That way you dont have to fight both your urge for nicotiene, and the physical or psychological need to do something with your hand/mouth/etc.
-
Some people are much more susceptible to addictions of various sorts, so I wouldn't say that cigarettes are necessarily hard or easy to quit. It just depends on who you are. Good luck.
-
Try Snus, this stuff rocks.
-
who's nicorette?
an old girlfriend?

the patch always fell off my arm. I used a sweatband to keep it on for a few weeks. After that just eat a ton of shit and keep that mouth full. Lick a lolipop, suck cock, whatever it takes. It's fucking worth it.

why don't you just spark up a big 'ol spleef, like your avatar...wheneva you crave a cig?

it could get expensive. Pot isn't the best for replacement addiction, it comes with a nasty stereotype

when you're baked, you won't care what people think, or about stereotypes
