Asshole in the attic. Was on a ladder cutting a smoother edge into the attic access hole (The house didn't come with one, and the previous owner just chopped a ragged hole into the ceiling of a closet, so I was trying to make a door for it.) and this fuckface popped out to say hello.

Spiders are my biggest fear, just before ladybugs.

Male Black Widows are little and brown. She's a girl because she's got TEH LOOK.
We used to have a colony of them in the garage of the old house. Got bit twice. Four hours of stomach cramps and hiccups followed by a headache is balls.

Michigan. FYI, though, they live just about everywhere in the U.S.

My son caught a rather large one in the shop and put her in a Utz's pretzel bottle. Then he caught another and then there were two in there. The next day, there was only one, the other one became last night's dinner. He shipped off to the Army and I keep her alive with crickets and Carolina bird grasshoppers. Interesting arachnids. Living on the farm, you have to always be aware of your surroundings and watch for black widows, timber rattlers, water moccasins and copperheads. Oh yeah, and the occasional python that some one lets loose when they get too big.

Id like to see a black widow against a praying mantis. Should be an interesting battle. I think the mantis is too quick tho.

I've had 4 brown recluse bites. Never saw a doctor. Just researched it on the internet and watched for danger signs that meant rush to the emergency room. Everyone has them in their house. I go to lots of deep dark places in people's houses. If putting your eyes on it chang anyed your thoughts about anything you were previously delusional.

NH has no venomous spiders or snakes. No black windows or brown recluses.

Bullshit. If we have them in WI, you have them in NH. Plus porcupines, we dont have much of those.

Yesterday, we returned to the house from a weekend trip down the coast. I'm unloading the car when I hear my wife scream from the other room. When I got there, she was dangling a redback (an Australian form of black widow) from a strand of web, which it was trying to climb back up. "It was on my back! Kill it! Kill it!"
Where it came from, I have no idea. It's the first lifeform we have seen inside the house. I'll be keeping an eye out from now on.
