they show some skinhead-lookin douchebag, that can't grow a FUCKING MUSTACHE, with , "liberty or death'' tatooed on his chest, as an example of your typical, free-state member.
great publicity for ''the cause''
-
Pics?
Skinhead sounds bad. Masculine posturing sounds bad. That tattoo sounds badass.

So being online or not having it be on their website prevents you from scanning in the article or at least taking a digital photograph of said article?

Nice.

I met that dude at pfest, he wasn't one of my favorites.

I should say yes, but I'm actually talking about the dude in the article.

Link to the article perhaps?

Link to the article perhaps?
I tried the UL possibility but it wasn't happening. Either way, I know the man in discussion right now.
-
Its the same article that's been in all the other newspapers around the country, just has a different picture.
Would this be the pictures that you are talking about?

-
Har Har that is a pretty lame mustache.
-
Haha, I remember that guy. I did think to myself "oh no, I hope no Nazi's showed up this time..."
-
So the FSP is full of racist skinheads that want to move only white people to New Hampshire to not pay taxes?
-
Besides looking like a douche bag did this kid do anything wrong?

Hahah. He and his homies showed up on Sunday when there only a handful of us there yet. We referred to them as "the angry people" for three days and never bothered talking to them. Turned out they were totally nice dudes - nothing racist or scary about them at all, aside from tattoos and shirtlessness.
-
So the FSP is full of racist skinheads that want to move only white people to New Hampshire to not pay taxes?
I think he may have been one of the people connected (maybe loosely) with the Alliance of the Libertarian Left. You know: Agorism, farming, gun rights, and that type of thing.
http://all-left.net/
I didn't have much time to talk to them but I heard good things about them.
The article in the Keene paper featured different photos. The AP took a lot of photos.
As far as the FSP, "We are looking for neighborly, productive, tolerant folks from all walks of life, of all ages, creeds, and colors who agree to the political philosophy expressed in our Statement of Intent, that government exists at most to protect people's rights, and should neither provide for people nor punish them for activities that interfere with no one else."

Wow, just wow.

You dumb fuckers just don't get it do you. Take the fuckin' FSP rose-colored glasses off for 2 seconds and look at that picture and THINK about what that might say to someone who has no idea about the FSP or this BBS. Shaved-head tattooed people are not shown in a positive light and to put that picture along with a quote at the end of the article talking about being armed and ready for aggressors, even government ones, is damaging as hell.
You get one chance to make a first impression...how ya think that looked to a lot of people who never heard of the FSP until reading an article with that picture in it?
-
Can I ask why anyone should care about the score "Lord Humongous" apparently keeps? Why do his points matter?
-

They probably thought it looks like their nephew and his friends are moving to New Hampshire. In case you haven't been paying attention, that's not all that uncommon a "look" these days.
-
You get one chance to make a first impression...how ya think that looked to a lot of people who never heard of the FSP until reading an article with that picture in it?
Tattos? OMG!
Short hair? Massively popular.
Pathetic attempt at facial hair? Very common.
I didn't take the picture. I have no control over that. I didn't publish the article. I have no control over that. Many of the people quoted in the article are not involved with the FSP. I have no control over that.
It's important to control the things you can, tolerate the things you cannot and, know the difference. Some editor of the Union Leader decided to use that picture. Contact them and complain if you would like.

You assume everyone is as stupid as you and merely looks at pictures without reading the article.Gone are the days where the media can manipulate people in that way.People are waking up and noticing the tricks of the mainstream media.I suppose you want the guy to be tased for wearing a tattoo in public?Fuck ewe!

I'm of shaved head and tatto-ed, and I shave every other day or so which doth leave the stubble.

The only place that I've seen that picture was in the Union Leader
you are getting all butt hurt because some kid got a tattoo? You have a serious lack of perspective.
-
FSP is not an orthodoxy that its members must serve by scoring "points"!
Its members define the broader movement - its goals, its tactics, and so forth.
FSP member "jackassery" is representative of those individuals, not the movement as a whole. The broad public opinion is not wise enough to make that distinction, of course, but that doesn't create any obligation on those individuals to mind their P's and Q's any more than there's any obligation to vote, or participate in CivDis, and so forth.
It's a decentralized movement of free-thinking individuals. Let's not even pretend that any one person or even any one particular philosophy is in control.

dude...its shaved. it's short to the point where you can't even call it short. I have short hair. that's shaved.

Can I ask why anyone should care about the score "Lord Humongous" apparently keeps? Why do his points matter?
fuck off dylhole
i brought up a valid point.
skin-head jackass w/ obnoxious tatoo is a great way to recruit potential fsp-ers
you fucking twat
-
Too funny.
That dude was a really nice guy, actually. Just looked angry.
We had hot dogs and beans with him. He was going off about Leonard Peikoff*, calling him a collectivist and saying that he made the person who was interviewing him (O'Reilly, I think.) look like a libertarian.
*You kinda gotta be a tiny bit sophisticated to even know or care who Leonard Peikoff is.

Is the guy even a FSP participant? Why is he a skin-head? How many minutes have you talked to him about his ideas?
It's a freaking tattoo. It says Liberty or Death. Seems like a good thing to me. Remember, the state motto in NH is Live Free or Die. It's about the same to me.
Remember, NH has more bikers than anywhere else in the US. It's know for it's biker culture. There was a time when you couldn't get ink done in much of MA and people came to NH to get it. There are still a ton of tattoo places in NH. Lots of people in NH have tattoos, get over it.
-
*You kinda gotta be a tiny bit sophisticated to even know or care who Leonard Peikoff is.
Or have taken a passing interest in Objectivism.
Which implies that you have a tiny bit of intellectual sophistication, at least. Objectivism isn't exactly skinhead hick level is all I'm saying.
-

don't get all self-righteous w/ me.
an article about the fsp in a prominent statewide newspaper and the only picture they offer is a white guy w/ a shaved-head, bare-chested w/ a blaring tattoo.......
what do you think the average joe is going to get from that?
...."gee, i bet he's an open-minded, highly intelligent, productive member of society.."
-
He got a tattoo on his chest, how else is he going to show it off?
I don't see what the big deal is. I haven't yet see someone make a big deal about Doobie's picture with the sword, or anyone criticise him for walking around dressed in a kilt, sword and AR-15. That isn't bad. But a fucking kid gets a tattoo? I'm sure the thing on his mind was how this was going to make the FSP look.
-
Hey, at least they didn't mention in the article that the FSP is supported by a dirty collection agency.
-
or that there is a radio show by a pair of free staters and one of them was in prison for murder.
maybe we should just make a policy where only people who look like the fucking Cleavers can sign up from here on out.
-

They are going to think...I don't know. Here are some options, "That looks like a kid I know," or "His tattoo is like the state motto."

GUN-TOTING, WHITE-SUPREMICIST, SKIN-HEAD NAZI FANATICS
that's probably more in line w/ what the average joe is going to think
the ar-15, kilt wearing dude would have been icing on the red-flag cake....
i don't have anything against any of these people.
i don't know them.
maybe they're really cool.
the point of this thread, is the first impression a fledgling organization should be trying to convey, prob. wouldn't be a nazi/skin-head-lookin' dude attached to the article.
maybe one of the event leaders would ''steer'' the reporter to certain individuals......
maybe that happened, and maybe the reporter wanted to show a ''fringe'' character, like our poster-boy here....
all good questions....
i'm just sayin', is all................
-
Wouldn't it have been the press that decided which photo to use along with the article?
There must have been some people there who have a more typical look about themselves- but that wouldn't bring the same reaction from readers would it?
I'm surprised at a number of y'all who are so upset over this guy's appearance. You sound just as scared at the sheople! I had a guy look timid when I came into his BBQ shack last week to eat. I even had my kids with me. I suppose because it was so far out in the country he didn't know what to do with one of them there NEE-O-NATZI/Satan Wershippers. Dumb fuck (but his BBQ was awesome).
Plus.. the skinhead scene has so many branches these days where both racist and anti-racist look the same that it's impossible to tell who's into what unless you talk to the nice people (found on both sides), or unless they have certain tats identifying themselves. Skinhead doesn't equal Nazi.. not even within the white supremacist groups.

I guess you just don't get a lot of the NH culture or many of the people that are attracted to it. NH has a gun and motorcycle culture. Other popular events in NH include Nascar and the Highland games. Hunting? Fishing? NH is huge when it comes to those things. Rock climbing and extreme hiking? NH is known for those.
Keep in mind that NH defeated the British before the other states even declared independence. There is a reason why NH is one of 3 states with the least restrictive motorcycle helmet laws in the nation, it tied for least restrictive auto insurance laws, doesn't have an income or sales tax, doesn't have seat belt laws for adults, has just about the best gun laws in the US, just about the least amount of cops, has the highest pot use among twenty-somethings in the US, sells the most alcohol and has the cheapest liquor in the US. The culture here is measurably different than most of the US, certainly different than anywhere else east of the MS River.
You must not have been brought up in NH or know a lot of people from NH. Hell, even go to south Boston and look at how the Irish kids dress, short hair has been very popular for a long time. Tattoos are very common. Wake up to this culture man and set yourself free.
-
A shaved head could just mean that they recently had lice.

born & raised...46 year resident, chum.
and, by the way, people that look like our friend in the newspaper, are the exception to the mainstream nh resident....
i know a great many hunters & fishermen....not fucking one comes even close to the look this kid is going for....
where the fuck did YOU grow up?

So the FSP is full of racist skinheads that want to move only white people to New Hampshire to not pay taxes?
(Sarcasm)
Yes ignore everything you've seen here as it's just cover for our racist hate! Ian only bans racists so that he doesn't look bad, in secret we plot the rise of the munchkin race!
(End Sacasm)
-
I am going to start the racist state project and I bet the free state projects numbers drop by at least half.

Maine is the whitest state, VT is #2, and NH is #3. It's Whitetopia.

FUCK KOS. Who gives a shit what one fucking blogger has to say about us? BIG FUCKING DEAL. You had a pretty decent article about the FSP which ran in about 200 news sources and you care about one fucking blog on KOS? Those people over at KOS and the people who read KOS already think we are anti-government militia nutcases.

I don't care, or read it. But a lot of others do, and numbers are what matter. If it was glittering praise, everyone would be sporting wood. You'd be e-mailing the link to all your fuckbuddies, Digg'n it (if they Digg, dunno).

Fuck KOS and the FSP.

Maine is the whitest state, VT is #2, and NH is #3. It's Whitetopia.
which is why I should move to Maine instead of NH

A dirty collection agency that collects for government-subsidized institutions.

so between poster boy, ar-15 kilt-guy, and AJ w/ whatever-the-fuck-he had around his neck, you'va got quite a line-up of fsp representatives...

When does AJ go to jail?

-
Doobie isn't part of the FSP. I'm not really sure how you don't understand that.
oh, forgive me for not being ''in the know''.....
a ''porc-fest'' extravaganza, highlighting libertarians & the FREE STATE PROJECT, more specifically, with a bunch of these sorts of people partaking of the festivities>> that was MY 1st impression>> if kilt-boy was allowed to parade around as such, he must be w/ the ''in crowd''
that's the whole fucking point of this thread.
if I were running this sort of event, and some jackass, THAT ISN'T A MEMBER (even if he was), was parading around w/ a sword & a semi-auto rifle swinging around his neck, he'd be uncerimoniously shown the door....
and I'm a big-time gun advocate/owner/shooter...
plus, i'm sure there was a gracious amount of libation to be had.....
guns & alcohol....yippeee.....

It was a private campground. Anyone was allowed there. It's silly to try to get someone out of a campground that did nothing wrong.
For example, a conservative state Rep was also interviewed. About 1/2 the people interviewed were not FSP people. At least two of them were not libertarians. Sometimes reports get things wrong. Most adults (at least the ones I know) understand that most articles have at least a couple errors. It's ok to error, it's what reporters do. Don't worry about it.
